A Sad Day!

Premiership Charlton Athletic
comment on the article

It looks all but over for my charlton but i will continue to support them to the grave. It all came undone on a ground where charlton have nearly always capitulated a real shame to go like this! I have every faith in pardew to return us after one season and to get rid of the dead wood. Congrats to west ham who looked dead and buried on several occasions but the curbs magic is finally rubbing off, good luck for the rest of the season!

A sad day for sure. But it`s not over yet......
I just hope that all the people who wanted A.C.out last year are now happy.
I`m not saying we are a worse team under A.P.
none of this is his fault, but in A.C. we knew where we stood and he @ the players knew what was expected.
I recall many fans saying a season or two back the would rather have a season of fighting for survial in the Prem or chasing the League 1 Champ. spot than mid table Prem football, well now we have had the survial fight and it looks like it failed.
I will follow Charlton from afar for ever.
But when we do return to the prem,as I`m sure we will, lets be thankfull for where we are and not be in the same boat of the so could called would be `BIG Teams` i.e. Leeds, Notts Forest etc.
There will be life @ Charlton after the Prem if we go down @ maybe one day we will complete with the likes of Man. Utd. and the rest, until then, good luck with the game`s agianst Spurs and Liverpool lads.
Keep the red flag flying.

If you go down it aint the end of the world because in pards you have a top man he will bring you back first time no problem. He done wonders with us [west ham].You have two very difficult games coming up but I wish your team well and hope you stay up,but not at our expense.

A real sickener. There is still a little room for hope, but to be honest, our recent form is no wins in five, which really says it all. The big thing today were the fans, who ent up in droves, and by all accounts sang their hearts out. Whatever happens, some rebuilding will be needed, as the creation part of this team looks every time more desperate. Still, if we beat spurs next week (who will no doubt be over confident after their win at Boro and our appalling recent form) we might still have reason to have our fingers crossed come the last day of the season. However, we're looking at a long summer refit followed by a season down in the fizzy pops. It's unlikely, but if we can cling on to Dazza for one season and see if his goals can fire us back up at the first attempt, cos although most people seem to think the mere presence of Pardew will see us come straight back up, theres a lot of teams similar to us down there.

The fans were brilliant, too bad about the players. I've an idea, maybe the players could pay back the club all the money they spent on coach travel and the planes as an apology for an abysmal performance that showed no heart and even less footballing nous!
I'll be there next year and like many hope that much of the dead wood is shifted by next season.

To all Charlton fans,

I'm a Blackburn season ticket holder and just wanted to say commiserations about yesterdays game.

4-1 flattered Rovers, and in my opinion Charlton were the most unlucky visitors to Ewood for several years. We were dreadful until Charlton equalised and that seemed to kick us into gear, had Warnock not produced his display of stupidity and handed you the equaliser I reckon it would have stayed 1-0 and Charlton would have probably hit us with a late equaliser in the same way West Ham did.

I though Matt Holland's work rate was excellent and I was very impressed with Darren Bent. He always looks a class act even if he isn't too heavily involved in the action. I hope you can hang onto him should your worst fears be realised.

Anyway, good luck with your remaining fixtures. Spurs are rubbish away so you'll probably win that and remember Bradford beat Liverpool on the last day to stay up several years back so you've got fate on your side, plus Liverpool may well be resting players for the Champions League Final so stay optimistic, it aint over yet!

All the best,

Nick the Rover
