Englands captain for SA &wWorld Cup

England
comment on the article

Mike Catt could well be giving Brian Ashton a headache as he could rule himself out of the SA tour.

So if Catt is ruled out who would be captain for the SA tour? And who will be captain for the World Cup?

Wilkinson should be a fair bet for SA.

The World Cup is much more difficult as it depends upon availability & selection.

I still think England would be better served by starting the big games with White ahead of Vickery. Indeed there cannot be many positions on the park that the majority of supporters would recognise as guaranteed.

I think Regan shold be captain, with Hill the vice-captain and Robinson after that.

I think the captain options are: Richard Hill, Mark Regan or Jonny Wilkinson (if fit!)

But Hill is unlikely to be playing every match if at all. Moody is the in form flanker.

Go with Wilko he's mature and mild tempered with Corry, Hill, White or Vickery as pack leader.

Wilkinson should not be captain he has to much to worry about at fly half to spend time talking to refs every time theres hand bags or danny grewcocks tried killing someone. hes the playmaker let him concentrate on that. you need an established forward but the way its gone this session no-one stands out.

There is almost no doubt that if he is fit and playing that Jonny Wilkinson probably will and should be captain. I think Vickery is not a leader, although I still think he is a great prop forward he doesn't have the leadership qualities in my opinion.
I have heard calls for Julian 'The Body' White to be captain, errr no. You can't give the captaincy to a player whose only asset is his scrummaging ability. He has not athleticism and constantly gives away stupid penalties, he is the model player for the term 'BODY'.

i aint english but to go foward from here is to make jonny wilkinson captain. hes was name captain of england after the world cup but never had the chance to lead his country cos of injury. consider dat he is fit for the tour he is the right man and so shud captain england in the world cup. people say he needs to concentrate on his job at fly half but i can tell you it doesnt work that way in any professional sport and da captaincy will lift jonnys game. u only have to look at brad fitler, andrew johns, darren lockyer all play makers but can also captain at the same time. same applys to union with richie mccaw at the moment 4 nz look at how his all black captaincy contributes to his performance with no sign of getting too carried away with the captain beside his name. you dont tel ricky ponting to dont captain so he can concentrate on what he does best with the bat! giving jonny the captaincy wil no doubt give him more pressure but its these kind of presure that would let a player of his class explode in every match he plays.
