In the interests of the sanity of all City fans, can i suggest that anyone looking at the news last night and dreaming of a revoltion ask the villa fans what they think about this takeover.

As i remember Ranson looked to take Villa on the cheap and the rummer was he looked at limiting the transfer budget for the 1st 3 years to the sky money alone (which would be good this time as its £50million!!)

Doug Ellis went on record as saying he did not feel Ranson could take the club forward and that the level of sustained investment needed would mean he could not make villa regular title contenders.

I'm not slating Ranson in anyway, i like the idea of an ex-player being involved, just hope its not going to be another Franny Lee, I want serious investment over a number of years, i want players to come to compliment our academy products, not to over shaddow it. If Ranson is looking to build then great.

If, as was with the case with villa, he was looking to minimise investment and maximise turnover i hope the board decline.

i think all these big money takeover wil b good for the league in the long run as it wil bring more big players to england and then teams may have a chance to sign the ronaldinhos and robinhos instead of them going to spain

The problem is that Man City have not bought well in the market. A new owner won't necessarily bring further success if they carry on in the same manner in the transfer market.

They need to bring in players with experience at the top level. Samaras has been their biggest recent flop but he was a player with potential and not with a proven record. If he had more experienced Premiership heads who are still at the top of their game then he might have done ok.

ElDamiano spot on pal, If there is money available there is n guarantee that it will be well spent. City wont have a bottomless pit, once it is spent that will be it. It MUST be spent well
