Dutch Art

comment on the article

What do we make of Dutch Art for the 2000 Guineas now after Saturdays defeat??

I went to Newbury on Saturday to watch him run first hand and it was a bit of a sorry sight...

However, and this is a BIG however.... Peter Chapple Hyam was not happy at even having to run the horse. He went on record several times through the week saying that he wasnt fit and was being leant on to run him although he knew he wasnt fit enough to do himself justice.
He went so far as to say it was possible that his infinately less talented stablemate Tariq might have beaten him, such was the work left to do on Dutch Art.
It was also said that a large syndicate had bought shares in Dutch Art and it was them who were applying the pressure for the horse to have a run against the trainers wishes.
Now I do not know if this is entirely accurate but if it is then I feel sympathy for PCH as having your hand forced to run a horse which is your stable star before he's fit, and consequently getting beaten and tarnishing his reputation is not something any trainer would want to happen.

Since the race PCH has said similar things again, saying that we will see a different horse in two weeks time, as his race wasnt that one on saturday but the 2000 itself and he was being trained accordingly.

The trouble with this is though that the seed of doubt has been sown.....

Had he not run I would have still counted him as a live contender, and he may well be..... but i'm just not sure???

I'm glad someone brought up Rodrigo De Triano almost the same thing is occuring with Dutch Art as it did with Chapple-Hyam's last Guineas winner.

Ignore Saturdays run the trainer clearly stated before the race that Dutch Art "is not fit" and that he hoped his class would see him through. If it hadn't been for a career best performance by the winner it would've.

Dutch Art will be a completely different horse at Newmarket.

I agree that Dutch Art ran below form on Sat and I feel he will be better for the Guineas. However, Major Cadeaux showed truly excellent form and I feel that display was good enough for him to have a strong shout at the Guineas. But, if Teofilo is on top of his game he will be vey hard to beat.

Rodrigo De Triaino and Dutch Art are two different horses believe it or not. If Dutch Art wins the Guineas, it will be the biggest shock that racing has seen since Nortons Coin won the Gold Cup, thats only my opinion. On form with Major Cadeaux over 7 he has not got a hope never mind staying the mile. I watched all the major Guineas contenders last night and Teofilo is the standout( what a shock ). Strategic Prince always travels which is a plus,Hateef travels well also, Adagio did what he had to do and Diamond Tycoon even though he won just a maiden he had them all off the bridle two out and as I said yesterday he is a fine looknig horse.

Having watched the race I cant have Dutch Art not only from the run but the stats are against it . However I congratulate MR PCH on his honesty and wish him and Dutch Art the best of luck. Also a very good artcicle.

I also watched video footage of the 2000 contenders last night and i have adagio as clear second best behind teofilo.
i then have dutch art for a place ahead of hateef, stategic prince and diamond tycoon.

Anyone backing Teofilo after his injury scare must be off there head! the race is next week not next month!
The Tote are going 12-1 Dutch Art looks a dream price, cant wait for it to Hose up and quieten all you none believers!
The only realistic danger is Stoutes Adagio
the trainer knows the time of day when it comes to Guineas horses.
