Englands summer tour.

summer tour England
comment on the article

Now that Wasp and Leicester are in the final of the Heiken Cup.

How week does that make the England team for the summer tour of South Africa.

And do you think it would of made any difference to the tour in terms of Englands performance and what the result of the games will be?

Your thoughts please.

Ashton should forget about it being any kind of tour. He should think of it as 2 stand alone matches and pick 2 completely different teams. The one based on Bath/Wasps/Leicester can fly out later, train as a unit, maybe even against the other team 'the rest'. You then get a(hopefully good)inter-squad rivalry over which team can do better against the Boks (even if they both lose!!!!)

Why can't they simply push the two tests back a fortnight?

Its a pointless task to send England to SA. What are we going to learn from it, NOTHING. When we send England anywhere its surpose to be the best of our nation, not a put together team for the sake of going on tour. Cancel it now, and well see SA in the worldcup.

I agree with Bridstow, in that the timing is ridiculous, and with Jayeatman, that Ashton is forced to treat this as two separate internationals. This ridiculous timing should not be happening to start with. How can Ashton run a national team on this basis ? South Africans living in London must be laughing themselves silly, and I don't blame them. Ashton will manage this the best he can, he's a good trainer, but I ask myself how he is expected to work in such an unprofessional context.

as long as whoever plays, plays with pride, passion and a will to win then fine. With all the injuries they cannot be expected to win the first test, BUT they can put there bodies on the line for the cause. I have faith they will come out of the game with respect.

have some of the people who have been writting in teams been on drug in large amount because thier selections are rediculous and most of the player or either injuried or play for wasp/leister or bath. i think ashon such use this oppurnity to give the young play a gud chance as in a full tour. but they need some old heads aroung them.
1)sherdian( coming back to fittness needs game time
2)hartley(good ball carrier and O.K at line out throwing
3)turner

South Africa's second string beat us at home so I fear for our second string away.

With the world cup in mind this is the chance a couple of players will have been longing for and they will need to show well if they are to take any credit away from the tour.
