Shane might have done enough...?

World cup Australia
comment on the article

Australia again underlined their credentials that they want to retain the cup.Forget about Mathew Hayden ton but it was explosive Shane Bond 65 which might have made the game safe for the Aussies. The question was asked a couple of week back "can anyone beat the Aussies" at the moment i doubt very much. Well done boys from down under.

Ritesh, that is a bit unfair on Watson, he was just about our best batsman at the ICC tournament last year, apart from Damien Martyn.

I miss Martyn's graceful batting, I just have to add.

Watson has done well with the bat in recent times but he is injury prone.

Sir
The Australian batting line up does seem invincible against mediocre bowling but as we know from the summer of 2005, the likes of Ponting are only human. A full strength Srilankan bowling attack would prove to be a wonderful test and much of a spectacle. I do not predict the winner in such an encounter but am merely pointing out that they have faced poor opposition thusfar in the competition.

Of course the Aussies can be beaten. Just get them rattled like England did in 2005. Sri Lanka can give them a run for their money and I hope they do. biggrin

The only team can beat Ausi is Sri Lanka.

I am sick to death of hearing about our poor cricketers having to spend time away from home and how hard it is for them. What about people serving in the navy, little pay, no five star hotels etc months away from their families with none of the added extras that sports people get. Grow up players and act like the professionals you are meant to be, you chose this life.

I agree with that Australia can be beaten by South Africa(who i think have a little chance) but i really think they will be beaten by Sri Lanka because Sri Lanka have the worlds best spinner Murali and 2 Very good Openers and i think they will put Australia batsmen under pressure.

I believe it was Shane Watson, as Shane Bond plays for the Kiwis, and anyway was sidelined yesterday with a stomach virus....

I was amongst the first to criticise Michael Vaughan when he wasn't firing now I feel it is my duty to congratulate him on an outstanding performance with bat and ball!! Well done mate
