truered4life (U7137784) posted Apr 20, 2007 i'm a younster. only been supportin forest since about 1997. but i saw a video of robertson a bit ago and saw what all the fans who were around back then go on about. he was brilliant. no idea how he took on so many players. he was slower than commons and reid combined. but the skill and crosses were perfect. what we'd give to have someone of even half his ability at forst now.

Turtlewax (U6524835) posted Apr 20, 2007 ESPN is very big over here. I don't watch it since it's always full of American b......t. Most of the commentators make fun of any sport that doesn't have it's origins in the U.S. and even football, the most popular sport on the planet is ridiculed, and cricket, forget about it, it's way too complex for the North American sports fan so they just ignore it in droves. I don't read Sports Illustrated for much the same reason and how can baseball have a world series when only American teams play in it (apart fom the Toronto Blue Jays) Everything is billed as the greatest sporting event ever even though The World Cup outdraws all of these events by a very wide margin! No wonder everybody dislikes the Yanks, there's America and everything else is second rate! That's my rant for the day folks! posted Apr 20, 2007 Turtlewax,

Turtlewax (U6524835) posted Apr 21, 2007 Yes, and they even have a hard time with Ice Hockey which got it's start in Canada. We have the National Hockey League with about 30 teams and only the ones in Canada do really well. I have nothing against the people in general but I do get tired of all the criticism of anything not American. Of course it doesn't help living right next door. Most of our TV comes from there so it's a constant flow. I suppose a lot of your "telly" programmes come from there also? Comment on this article |
