TrevHol1,
Great idea! Only problem is if teams had points deducted for their players harassing, swearing at or just generally disrepecting the ref the league would already be over!
Or did you want the FA to introduce a law that only applies to Rooney?

I agree wiv monkee1,
Smiffy has been brilliant since he came back from injury, and - being and Man U supporter - I thought united were done for when they lost Saha and Solskjear to injury and then Henrik Larsson left but hwo needs them when we got Wazza firing again and Smith?
Ther only prob is that we lost Vida about 2 weeks ago through injury, evra got injured last night, and Gazza has been out for a month...the defence looked to be our biggest weakness - Fletcher's playin welll now and Gabby Heinze's back doin his stuff, Brown has allways been worthy of waring da red shirt so every thing is cool!

OK! Now that all of the Man United/Rooney faithful have all finished tearing lumps off me, let me please just explain my point.

I do not condone ANY player - whether it is Wayne Rooney or an 85-year-old Sunday League regular from down the high street - who thinks that it is correct to swear at or verbally abuse the referee in such an unacceptable. I was only using Rooney as a case example. But yes, I do feel that deducting points off clubs would work much better in tackling the problem instead of fining them amounts which they would easily make up again in less than one day.

Deduct points - it's the only way that these players would learn!

Rooney is a class act, he's always going to score goals,

If he has a bad game people start saying hes lost it and not worth 30. Is Andriy Shevchenko? No, but they both score goals and both have off days.
------------------------------------
I'd sign them for 30 each.

Knew some sarcastic eagle-eyed barstead wud see that when I posted it!

deduct points? for one player who has a nasty tongue? how about suspensions for that player. agreed that fines dont work but if rooney missed a few games because of his foul mouth that would teach him better. dont punish the whole club for one mans hot headedness. im sure fergie has told him more times than enough to cool it but he just gets carried away. the threat of missing games would make rooney think twice.

Once again we see the Rooney and Ronny bashing by the jealous Chelski bandwaggon jumpers and the Arsenil green eyes.

When it comes to ref hounding there is no one in the premiership that can hold a candle to Messrs F Lumphard, M Bollo**s, A Shevchokeo,C Fairygrass and Mr Winge himself Jens Lunatic.

Glass houses and stones come to mind!!!!!.
