AUS vs SL - Rehearsal for WC Final?

One-day internationals Australia
comment on the article

Monday's AUS vs SL match might be a rehearsal for WC final. Of the teams already qualified or still in contention for the semifinal spots, these are the only two that had won the Cup before. AUS has thus far played like a world champion and has not been seriously challenged yet. SL has grown in strength as the tournament progressed.

Both teams have considerably variety and depth in bowling. Even without Malinga, SL has dependable bowling line-up. Murali and Vaas are capable of swinging the outcome in a few minutes, and both have been in great form. Australia has tremendous depth and fire power in its batting. SL's batting is headed by the great modern day buccaneer, Mr. Jayasurya, who is capable of winning matches on his own performance. Both teams bat well down to #9.

Is Australia on its way to a three-peat (as they call in the USA)?

Is destiny on the side of Sri Lanka?

Your thoughts?

Dazarama, I felt a bit cheated too. Yesterday evening, I spent a few minutes writing this article as a prelude to the match, and wrote about Vaas and Murali as strengths of SL, only to find out in the morning that SL decided to hide them away. Maybe it was tactically right, we will have to agree if SL goes to final and pulls a surprise on AUS; otherwise, it will go down as a mistake.

1. What has this got to do with the cricket?

2. The killer was a Chinese citizen on a student visa.

3. It is illegal for non-US citizens to possess firearms in the US.

You're a true genius mate (sarcasm).

Glad we are posting first, we seem to hate run-chases.

Got a feeling Monty wil spin us to victory later.

Prediction time...

England - 256 all out (roughly)

South Africa - win with 10 balls to spare and 2 wickets in hand.

Saying that, I also predicted that whoever won the toss and decided to bat first would win the game. However England always have us hoping just to fall short, so my prediction above stands.

I will also go with Monty to take most wickets for England in the game and Herschelle Gibbs to score the most runs today.

A lot depends on Pietersen today, as Vaughan and Flintoff are unlikely to find their form in one afternoon.

Also why are we posting on AUS vs SL game when this is clearly Eng Vs SA

Great to see the ground full for once. England might be rubbish but our matches have been far more interesting than some teams'.

Apparently England and SA have history and don't like each other very much. Should give a good atmosphere.

Big of Vaughn to demote himself to number 2. Amazed Ntini is not playing too. I really want to see a big score from Bell today - that, and Saj's bowling could decide the match.

What a meek display of batting by England? If KP and Colly fail, there is not much.

Now that SL has moved to #3 on the table with their easy win over Ireland, 1-4 order of teams is likely to remain the same. Unless NZ inflicts a massive, unprecedented, damage on Australia (highly unlikely), Australia will remain at #1 and face #4 SA in the semifinal.
