The boulevard of broken dreams....

European Football Tottenham Hotspur
comment on the article

As Spurs fan's take the long walk down the "boulevard of broken dreams",formerly known as High Road, Tottenham.
We can only reflect on a super 2nd half performance after a truly terrible 1st half performance words fail me to describe how bad our performance was.In what seemed to be a repeat performance of our meetings with Arsenal in the League Cup Semi and Chelsea in the F.A., which I'm sure many Spurs fans dreaded.
The positive's to take from this? fine performances from Lennon,Defoe and Berbatov. As for Malbranque I was just begining to admire his style of play this season and then he pops an own goal in, but would it be too harsh to lay the blame for this defeat at his feet?.I think not he tried his hardest to make up for that in the second half.
Man of the match (certainly not the ref!) has to be Lennon for his absolutely tireless effort through out the second half, but then again the whole team showed great spirit during the second half, but giving a side like Sevilla a 2 goal start was just to big a mountain for us to climb - this time. I am sure we will be back in European Competition again next season.
Thanks must also go to Martin Jol and the team who have made me really proud again to call myself a Spurs fan.
Your thoughts on tonights game?

Yeah course we do!
I wouldn't go as far to say that I hate Arsenal though, but that don't mean I love em either!

jeeze you guys make me laugh.

Yeah, you put up a good second half performance, but surprise, surprise you forget to note that Seville were ALWAYS gonna sit on that half time lead - even though they should have been at least 4-0 up at the half but for poor finishing.

Now you lot are giving it the "make us proud" nonsence - jeeeze!

when all said and done- you got beaten by the FIRST DECENT SIDE OF ANY NOTE you came across in the whole tournamant - favorites or not!!!

poor deluded spuds

not even a player in the european micky mouse league!!!

P.S: Oh, funny how hardly anyone mentioned Old boys fantastic finish for the second goal.

If it had been scored by Rooney, Ronaldo or even Lennon or Keene you lot would be harking on about "World Class" finishing.
Never mind eh

my MOTM: Zokora or that Light haired Seville player - played a tidy game throughout.

HOW GOOD IS MARTIN JOL?
Martin Jol appears to be the best manager Spurs have had for several years and has taken us within reach of the top 4 clubs.
But can he take us any further?
On several occasions this season he has made poor tactical decisions and substitutions during games.
The second leg against Sevilla highlights his decision making. After only 8 minutes Spurs were 4-1 behind on aggregate and needed 4 goals to win and yet he failed to make changes to the team until well into the second half. Surely he could see that Sevilla were simply running through our midfield with ease. Needing 4 goals he should have made changes immediately, for example play 3 at the back with an extra player in midfield to stop Sevilla waltzing through us and provide extra attacking force. Any other manager at this stage of the game would have made changes. I believe Martin Jol is either frightened or does not have the capability to change his team tactics. Substitutions are always made too late. Spurs will not make a serious challenge on "top 4" with Martin Jol at the helm, this is as far as Spurs will go.
What do you think?

Spurs will never be a top club while they keep playing with 10 men. Jenas, where are you?
He is only in the side to take free kicks and corners.
