Everton 2-1 Charlton

Premiership Everton
comment on the article

James McFadden scored in stoppage time to snatch the win that lifts European hopefuls Everton up into fifth spot and keeps Charlton inside the drop zone.

The Scot flicked over Luke Young's head and volleyed home to settle a tie that had seen three goals in 10 minutes.

Both sides had been guilty of wasteful finishing before Joleon Lescott swept in the hosts' opener from close range.

But Darren Bent turned in from 12 yards for what looked a precious leveller, only for McFadden to steal it late on.

Give your thoughts on the match.

I Agree with Susie, but I think it`s time for us ere Everton fans to back the team,I am tired of listening to the same face`s slagging and voiceing their concerns when play dosen`t go our way,but don`t get behind the team anyway,is that not what it`s about, support OUR team whatever, and I personally am made up with the efforts of the team, and hopefully the fans will appreciate the efforts of the team as a whole, come on the blues

the sinkiin feeling must b on the charlton fans after this last sec lost, they did extremly well 2 come back from a goal down only to 2 undone by a brillant goal from mcfadden which was worthy of winning a game of this energy and passion.

good win for the boys. should make uefa cup now. moyes is doing a great job, we're now a more consistent side. hopefully the board gives funds to cement our place. joey barton, darren bent/david nugent would be good buys. board need to sort out stadium issue ASAP also!

I was disapointed in that we had the better chances. Having said that, good luck to Everton (they don't stop working and deserve to be where they are). We deserve to be where we are beacuse of our early to mid season form but we are now playing at a much higher level and any honest Everton fans would have to admit that on another day they could have lost that match. A win would have been massive, but Sheffield Utd have to play Man Utd next week and then us on Saturday. I expect to be out of the bottom 3 by Saturday evening. I still think it is Fulham and not Sheffield Utd who will be the third team to go down.

As an optimistic charlton fan also, i dont know why but i just cant see us going down. Pardew has done amazing with the boys and although some of our players may not be the most gifted in the prem they run themselves into the ground and for darren bent to still be one of the top english scorers in the prem playing for a side in the bottom 3 shows just how good he is.

Honestly some fans are as deluded as their manager, i.e charlton fans and pardew.
sorry but there is no way u can say u deserved anything yesterday, we had 20 attempts on goal and u just relied on bent isolated up front on his own. so glad McFadden popped up to give pardew and his boys a "FOOTBALL LESSON" :D

Everton have battled all season and it shows. It wasn't that long ago we were struggling ourselves but now we know that if we keep pressing we will get goals. Charlton should take a leaf out of Moyse's book!

adhunt I disagree. We were lucky to get away with a win. I am not saying that we didn't try hard and put the work in, but the standard that we played yesterday wasn't great at all and Charlton could easily have got a winner. I disagree with Pardew's comments in his MOTD interview about Charlton being "in control of the game" but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how many chances on goal you make, it's the ones that go in that are important.

I am fully behind Everton (not always so with Moyes but that is another story) and was over the moon when Jimmy Mac scored that great goal right in front of me smiley but I am also a realist and if we play similarly against any of the remaining 4 teams we have to play, then we will lose every one of them. We need to raise our game and hopefully some injured players coming back will help that before the weekend.

will darren bents price drop by that much, or would it stay the same due to the intrest from clubs such as spurs and even chelsea. From what i saw he would be quite a good signing. Sell beatts bring him in, with the option of the 2 yung guns on the bench?
