Heard a bit of football chit-chat to complement our daily gossip column?

The next transfer window does not open until the summer, but clubs are already starting to plan for next season and you can bet there are some serious negotiations going on behind the scenes.

If you know of any transfer rumours doing the rounds, drop us a line below.

*******

i am sure SAF just thinks he is better than Saha and Smith, and he might be right.

But more likely, if you look at the history Defoe has of being linked to top club while being a poor player it is just that his agent has good media connections.

Defoe has been linked with moves to Arsenal,Chelsea and United in the past 5 years and I reckon none of those clubs would want a shelfish striker who has trouble scoring against decent teams.

what is his international record? something like 2 goals in 20 games ??

If Defoe is playing in a good team, such as Manchester Utd, I would expect him to be capable of banging in the goals.

A step up might also be good for England as his time at Man Utd might enable him to improve his overall game.

I don't think he is necessarily top-top-quality, but he does have the makings of a top Premiership goalscorer and perhaps even a decent international striker.

According to reports Tottenham Hotspur boss Martin Jol has accepted that he will lose star forward Dimitar Berbatov if the club fail to land European football next season. Manchester Utd and Liverpool have been mentioned as possible suitors. Meanwhile Jermaine Defoe is certain to leave the club in the next transfer window and Aaron Lennon could also follow him out of the door if a big offer comes in for the former Leeds man.

Hey i diddnt wright this but just been having a chat with my old source, the one that has regular contact with one of Liverpool's european scouts.
This is not a european based player though, He is very firmly based in the UK.

Something very interesting is happening with Thierry Henry.

Can I just stress at this point - no deal has been done - but Henry has the blessing of Arsene Wenger to continue his career in the Premiership with Liverpool should he leave Arsenal, which seems highly likely.

Henry wants to play for Liverpool, he feels he has done as much as he can at Arsenal, and a fee of around £15m would be all it takes. Henry has also indicated that he would not play for any of Arsenal's other rivals.

Liverpool have spoken to Henry and feel they have a deal in principle, should the player decide to leave Arsenal.

Liverpool will move for David Villa only should Henry decide he is staying put for another season.

According to reports Arsenal star Thierry Henry is being linked with a summer move to Liverpool. With Arsene Wenger considering whether or not to quit Arsenal following David Dein's resignation from the club, Arsenal and Liverpool have apparently agreed a deal in principle for the player. A host of other stars including Cesc Fabregas, William Gallas and Emmanuel Adebayor may follow if Wenger decides to leave.

i met Tom Hicks' son on holiday in dallas last month, and he said the reported £40million available was nonsense, and was more likely to be £100m! Look for torres, owen, henry, berbatov, simao, alves, lennon and many more to be on their way!
Also the Hicks family were all very supportive of liverpool cause, and proudly boasted liverpool attire. They were very normal and frindly people!!!
