Blackburn 1-2 Aston Villa

comment on the article

Gabriel Agbonlahor grabbed a second-half winner as Aston Villa came from a goal down to take three crucial points at Ewood Park.
Rovers went ahead with a Benni McCarthy penalty on 22 minutes after David Bardsley felled Morten Gamst Pedersen.

But Villa drew level nine minutes later as Patrik Berger cleverly clipped home Bardsley's cross from the right.

Gareth Barry's penalty was saved after the break but Agbonlahor struck on 72 minutes to give Villa maximum points.

Like others have said how can you criticise MON's selections when such a wonderful result is achieved .He is a man manager without a doubt beyond comparison .
This win has been coming for a while and helps to aleviate the pressure .
Wonderful to see the away fans celebrating the win the way they did .Can you imagine what it will be like when the good times return as they surely will !
Marvellous to see Gabby stepping up a gear and assuming the attack leaders role which is something he has always done in the reserves and the youth teams .
This has been a good week in Gabby being tied down to a new contract as well as Berger hopefully .
Lets not forget that in the middle of the season there was a falling out between Patrick and MON yet for the benefit of the club MON has forgiven him and look how well Patrick has reciprocated - sheer class .Shouldnt there be a paralel there for managers in general to emulate !
Ive got mixed views about the bluenoses losing because we know where 6 points would come from if they are promoted .

Seems obvious to me that we played better football when not hoofing it up to Carew. If we can retain the ball there's some promise. Carew is a good player but let's keep it to his feet (where he's pretty good too) or keep him on the bench to hold the ball up when we need to hang on to a result. Bardsley? Get back to Utd pal!

Great to see Villa win and Gabby back up front but I never like to see us playing with just one striker. Would have a been a great opportunity to have tried Moore and Agbon together. MON says that its good for Gabby to learn another position (ie wing) but it makes no sense when the team's been struggling for goals and he (along with Luke Moore in my view) is arguably our most potent goal threat.
Am I the only person who sees it this way?

A vital three points. Our run in does'nt look too tricky, so I think its safe to assume we are safe. Lets strengthen over the Summer and this time next year will be the time to judge MON's impact on the club.

I think next season most of our goals will come from Carew Moore and Agbonlahore. Maloney looks very good also. Barry looks set to stay in the middle giving Young Berger and Maloney a chance to team up together.
