Manchester United 4 - 1 Blackburn Rovers

comment on the article

Manchester United stormed back from a goal down to brush aside Blackburn.

United central defender Nemanja Vidic was forced off with a broken collarbone and the home side then fell behind when Matt Derbyshire slotted home.

But United dug deep and Paul Scholes slalomed into space and fired in before Michael Carrick sidefooted in.

Park Ji-Sung pounced to add a third and an Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer tap-in completed United's comeback to leave them needing five wins for the title.

i certainly don't think rooney has had the best season so far, but i predicted early in the season that this would be the case, i felt it was inevitable!the abuse he received from the FA with that 3 game suspension as a result of a mickey mouse tournament in amsterdam was indemic of rooneys problem all season.

Blah, blah, blah. Poor ickle Wayne. Are you seriously suggesting that in a season when the treble is on GrannyLoverShrek cannot motivate himself to contribute?

He is suffering from the same problem as Rio Ferdinand, arrogance. In a world where the intellectually challenged are being so heavily rewarded it's no surprise that they have lost touch with reality.

Rooney hasn't been consistent enough when scoring goals, but he has been great when setting up goals. In no way has it been a great season, but it hasn't been a disaster either. Without his goals United wouldn't be top of the league, but I agree with MUpToDeath that, if he was consistent United would have the title in the bag already.

As for the display against Blackburn, it's proof that United can be down, but are never out of the contest. Glad my favourite player, Ole Gunner Solskjaer got on the score sheet as well smiley

Rooney scored 12 Assists 10

Total = 22

Only Ronaldo can better this (23) and on actim index he is the second best striker and the 4 best player in the premiership.

From a Blackburn perspective it was a strange game to be a part of.

In the first half i thought we matched United for tempo and we passed the ball as well as we have all season. Yes, United created the majority of the chances in the first half but we looked quite handy i thought and posed a decent enough threat to suggest we might give United a scare.

That was underlined further with Matt Derbyshire's goal. A typical poachers goal and at half time i thought we had a great chance of taking something from the game.

How wrong i was.

As a Rovers fan the second half was exausting to watch.

We were simply battered. United stepped up to a level that we couldn't compete with and i was relieved when the final whistle went.

We by no means disgraced ourselves but we didn't even get going in the second half and that was mainly due to United class rather than our poor showing.

Some times a fan just has to hold up its hands and say we were beaten bu a throughly superior side.

It doesn't happen very often to a team as competitive as Blackburn but Saturday was one of those occasions and i'm sure we'll bounce back fine against Villa next saturday.

to pie-eater
where in my statement did i say that he can't motivate himself??i'd love to see it?? i said he wasn't playing well, but all season he's been busting his gut for the side, there's a huge difference!and you speak of the intellectually challenged in one line and then refer to rooney as grannylovershrek in the next?perhaps you're speaking of intellectual challenge from an autobiographical stand point because you also couldn't distinguish between me suggesting rooney's playing poorly and rooney's not trying. your clearly just anti-rooney! and i'm sure that goal he scored last night was a fluke, that he realy intended to head it across the keeper and not control it,beat the defender and place it in the far corner, no, grannylover shrek is to intellectually challenged to perform such a genial moment!
