England v Ireland

World Cup England
comment on the article
World Cup 2007

Key all-rounder Andrew Flintoff has been passed fit to take his place in England's line-up for Friday's World Cup Super 8 match against Ireland.

The 29-year-old has overcome a stomach virus that affected his preparations, while Ed Joyce will play against his native country.

Ireland, meanwhile, should be boosted by the return of captain Trent Johnston following a shoulder injury.

Give your thoughts on the match throughout the day.

My biggest concern is the regular use of the word "inclement" during this world cup. I fear the word is becoming the "bouncebackability" of the cricketing world.

We must not let Ian Bishop start this trend of using the word "inclement" every time it rains! It must be stopped now!

Pietersen is not, and never a pinch hitter!. pinch hitters are those kinds, who are hit or mis. they normaly go bang bang, get 20/25, or most often nothing, or even a not so often 50+. . Pietersen is our best batsman, and he is not the one to do the job of a pinch hitter. same with Fred. We need a proper batsman who can scor fast runs. Strauss is the best choice, and if they are not going to pick him, at least let Bopara come at 3 and get on with it.

rain happened last night and Antigua ground is still wet.it is bright hot sunny day. it is not understandable why they cant dry the field yet.may be they start drying the field at 9.30, when the match supposed to start. so much indiscipline in carribean. they should never get chance to host any world cup

Not only is Michael Vaughan ex Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher but he also finds time to be lead singer of girl panted Emo band Maximo Park. How do you know, Hercule? I hear you think. Well, simply observe the look of strange steely determinism in the eyes, as though enduring a severe pant wetting that noone else must know about. Or one wipe too many with the antiseptic roll.

I thought he was Justin Langer. I thought it suspicious that Langer retired, then Vaughan was 'suddenly' fit.

Does anyone know how many SAFFAs are playing in this world cup? Seems every team has at least one. Perhaps this is a tactic to get our hands on the cup? Doesnt matter which team wins there will be a SAFFA on the winning team...

I mean is not unusual for England to have a SAFFA or two but seems to be becoming a trend
