With two - thats TWO golds and one silver on the first night of the track world championships it can only be described as the best night of british sport this year.

Bring on the rest of the events. Note to BBC sports desk this is the kind of news your're waiting for - not that the footballers were booed off at a regional competition qualifier - this is success at world level - and there's more to follow (we hope)

Well done to Victoria, Shazane and Bradley

Look didn't mention SPOTY once...........

only seen one tv news bulletin this morning - did they lead with news of last nights success? Did they build up to prospects for today? No - as usual how the cricketers were struggling and "highlights" of Murray's latest defeat

Today has been another great day - Victoria Pendleton in a league of her own - sorry I can't find words big enough for that performance.

Sports desk this IS your headline story tonight - even Andy Murray can't lose twice in one weekend can he? British success at World level should be covered by a british broadcasting Coproration shouldn't it?

Also if Kelly Holmes became a dame after 2 Olympic medals - what should the guys in the GB squad be getting? Okay so Dame Chris Hoy would be very wrong but you know where I'm coming from.........

Got to go as they're about to do the medals for the sprint I think another celebratory beer is called for ale

It feels so good to be British when you can see our cyclist's getting so many medals, but then i feel so embarrased to be British, every time i see the sports round up's in the British media, surley we only like losers or you would be led to think so.As usual there exsploits will be over looked & wiped away till the olympics only to be over looked right up to the moment they get there 1st gold,& has usual the news papers will be caugth with there pants down ,& has has usual they'll send il informed bemused so called sports journalistes to ask stupid questions like how fast does your bike go as it was the case when Bordman won his olympic gold in BARCELONA ,it's the truth i swear !
More medals to come maybe tomorow !

How wonderful it is, to know that the sport you love is mincing the rest of the World's opposition so gracefully. I mean Victoria Pendleton, WE ARE NOT WORTHY!

After thanking the BBC for their live coverage I just noticed when I came on line via the Sports page - that there is not a mention in the headlines!
Failing football managers, Snooker, tennis etc but SUCCESS in CYCLING - NOWT!!!

Normal service has been resumed - highlighted by zalacain.

Only a brief mention in last nights news bulletins and then only named pendleton as one of two gold medallists

Yup.... I've kept track of this nonsense for nearly 30 years - what on earth is it about? I sometimes think it works in reverse, the more exciting things are - then the less they report it.

For crying out loud, this is almost as bad as page after page after year after year of Scottish (9% of UK population) moaning about UK media dominated by English (83% of UK population) sports news.

Cycling's a minority sport in this country. Get over it, get used to it and get on with it.

Oh well, glad someone else has started a new WC thread. Looks like I'm the only person interested in THE CYCLING on this one!

Wow. What a few days. Is it just possible that this GB cycling team is both the most successful track cycling team of all time globally and, Britain's most successful team ever at any sport?
British Cycling and the BBC's next task should be to create a double act of Vicky Pendleton and Nicole Cooke to do the rounds of the women's daytime TV programmes, in order to boost the sport and kill off the footballers' wives!
