That sudden burst of speed by Malinga is the moment of this world cup so far..It's very hard to describe...had to be seen to be believed...those who left the ground & those switched off thier Television sets will regret it for ever! highlights are no substitute for watching it live with all the tension...a lesson that the GAME OF GLORIOUS UNCERTAINTIES IS STILL ALIVE AND KICKING!!(....of course the cynics will say Kallis was paid a fortune to throw his wicket!!, but do we care???)...Let's get the party started!!

Yes his acion is really different and no one else uses it but to say that he is an chucker because of that is absurd.

"is it because malinga is sri lankan i ask?"
I think so. all of us have been trying to tell them that his action is legitimate in quite sensible way, and they are responding with absolute rubbish. they have no point, yet they want to castigate him.
I don't know if they are doing it out of frustration, or something els?

First up, HATS OFF to Slinga Malinga for what was probably the best spell of death bowling EVER, then for those who think that he should be banned because he is the only bowler with such action in world cricket, check for Fidel Edwards from the West Indies..

Edwards has an round arm action but not to the extent Malinga has.It is apparent that Malinga's action is legitimate though it is really different.

he was virtualy unplayable when touring NZ. I've never seen him better, till yesterday. a refreshing, exiting bowler that Slinga Malinga..and a realy nice guy off the field.
one thought to the match SA vs SL...the Lankans missed a trick or two, the greatest mistake they made was: allowing Graham Smiths every 3 min. to take a trink. don't take me wrong, but hydrate before you dehydrate as Nasser Hussain said. Mahela should have stopped him doing so..it would have been in his right. Smith was clever, Mahela a good sport...what you guys think!!

I was amazed by Malinga's action. AT first I though "thats a bit dodgey" but it is clear that there are higher authourities on this issue who have cleared, so all I can say is rock on.

I think an issue here maybe that kids in England, Aus, NZ, SA (generally the more wealthy nations of cricket) are taught the "proper" way to bowl and bat in top facilities. Kids from somewhere like Sri Lanka may have taught themselves down the local park or on the street and as a result Malinga and Murali's actions are unique and unusual, but none the less valid.

How can an average cricket fan doubt the decisions of the higher authourities on this issue who have tests, safeguards and knowledge? I don't quite think that the ICC is that corrupt or biased towards Sri Lanka at all. Why would it be?

Anyway, apart from the one obvious incident, this has been a breathtakingly good world cup.

It was awesome...nobody really plans it, we all have fantasized about doing such wonder acts in our younger days...6 sixes and who knows..maybe 6 wickets in an over someday?

Malinga started bowling this way when he was young, the pace generated from his slinging action is much higher than the pace generated from an orthodox action in his case. this gives something to think about for all coaches around the world, true it is hard to bowl Malinga's way, but that doesn't mean there can not be others, and who knows, we might see slingers in other international teams in the near future.

Slinga's action looks awful.

It's just not cricket!
