Wembley to host FA Cup final

FA Cup
comment on the article

The Football Association has confirmed the new £800m Wembley Stadium will host this year's FA Cup final on 19 May.
Brent Council has given the stadium a general safety certificate after two successful "ramp up" events.

A community day was staged for 34,000 people and England under-21s faced Italy in front of nearly 56,000 fans.

The FA's chief executive Brian Barwick said: "I'm happy to confirm that the 2007 FA Cup final will be played at Wembley Stadium."

What are your opininons of Wembley so far? Have you visited it yet and, if so, what were your impressions?

I live in Wembley and have done all 21 years of my life. I loved the old stadium and especially loved it on cup final day, because the atmosphere was just so brilliant.I believe that the new stadium is absolutely fantastic, and will recreate that same atmosphere that was always present with the previous stadium. Im fed up of the people who keep knocking it, and it seems to be mainly those north of the Watford Gap who are complaining!! Fair enough, prices of refreshments are awfully expensive and there will probably teething problems which need to be addressed, but overall the stadium is top notch and i believe we should be proud of it. Despite the delays and the costs, i for one will be the first one to purchase tickets for the cup final now it has been confirmed that wembley will indeed stage it.And all you northerners, stop moaning!!

its nothing like to old wemblye, i mus admit i am taken aback by the actual size of it, its a beautiful stadium and it will look fantastic in the cup final and internationals, (if only we cud get a decent england side to play there) neways it will look fab at the facup final with probably the chavs and the mancs. BUT there has been some complaint about overpricing food and is it really worth £80 mil? thats the real question.

I agree that 797million pounds was too much to spend but blame those at the FA and multiplex for that! At that price, the stadium is never going to live up to its hype, simply because people will be expecting more more more!! But it really is a fabulous stadium, definetly the best in the country and possibly Europe if not the world.

From what I've read most of the people who weren't impressed were in the lower tiers close to the pitch while most of the people in the upper tiers were blown away.
I was in the top tier on the community day and was fairly impressed despite it being fairly empty.
And we still haven't seen it on a proper match.
