England head into the Super 8s stage of the World Cup with batsman Kevin Pietersen top of the world rankings.

He replaces Australia's Mike Hussey at the top of the list.

All we need now is the team to be on top of the world
Woohooo A sign of destiny Come On England!!!

Hussey was the previous holder of the top spot and hasn't got into double figures yet this World Cup, whereas Kev has scored a couple of 50s.

Seeing as he's been smashing world class attacks around for the past 2 years it's a well deserved accolade.

Well lets be realistic. KP is good batsman but I don't think He is the best.Simply he came to England because his performance was not good enough to play for South Africa first team.If he is so special why he did not get a chance to play for South Africa.

Because he's white. Muppet.

Are you telling me that Prince is a better ODI player than KP?

Silk is right on target.

Well. In his earlier days in Cricket, KP may not have got the opportunity to play for South African first team. But after watching his batting explosions over the past two years, every South African cricketer and every fan of South African cricket will feel that they had missed KP. Surely, he is way ahead of Ashwell Prince, who is one of the middle order batsmen of current South African team.

KP left because he couldn't get in his state side, not because he couldn't get into the national side. He was just a teenager when he came to England, and wasn't a candidate for a call up for his country.

Of course he would get into the present South African side. He'd get into any national team. But the point hardly needs to be made. For the last seven years, in qualifying and playing for England, he has commited himself to his adopted country, which is the country of his mother. Unless she's Scottish! Can't remember.

Ashwell Prince, by the way has turned himself intro a decent player, and there are worse than him getting a game for the South Africans. Averages 43, and that is heading in the right direction. Only averages 1 v Bangladesh though.

Thanks for the info Hank Quinian.

KP’s career aggregate in 45 ODI matches is 1703, whereas Ashwell Prince’s career aggregate in 46 ODI matches is 933. Kevin has scored nearly twice as much as Prince.

KP is a drama queen.

oh those grapes taste sour!! He is the best and you know it - that's why you try and belittle him. His incredible performances speak for themselves.

All of you who keep criticising him will have to eat your words big time - once he's played every side in the world home and away, he will be comfortably the best player in the world.

It's my prediction - let's see if I'm right
