Since we are all fed up of England at the moment i thought i would do a match report of a better time for england fans. This match although very recent is one of the greatest nights of my life being a england supporter. Hope it cheers you all up.

England went into the game lying second and with the threat of only auto qualification for first place they needed a win to put them back into touching distance of germany who were 6 points clear.

The match begun and the first 6 minutes had passed by without incident until Carsten Jancker popped up in the box to put germany into the lead!

1-0

However Germany held their lead for just 6 minutes again, David beckhams freekick headed into the area by G.Neville and flicked on by Barmby for Michael Owen to equalise.

1-1

As the half progressed both teams had good chances to gain the lead but neither failed to do so until the 45 minute when another Beckham cross was headed down by ferdinand for Gerrard to hit home a sweet 25 yard volley into the bottom corner.

2-1

HT

The teams returned out both with germany desperate to get back on level terms, however just 3 minutes into the half Heskey found Owen and he doubled his tally for the night. To give england a 2 goal cushion.

3-1

In the 66th minute England where in dreamland as Owen raced away through good work from Gerrard and Scored his 3rd of the night to complete his hatrick and englands 1st v germany since 1966.

4-1

England then set back to protect their lead but managed the final goal of the night on the 74th minute when Heskey sprinted past the german defender and fired a low shot past Kahn. England fans where in raptures.

5-1

The game the fizzled out with the scores remaining the same and england went on to top the group.

FT

Well that was a great night to be a english fan, and i hope for more memorys in the future.

I hoped everyone liked the report it was my first so if i missed out i am sorry.

not only england fans miss owen but all football fans miss him.
however, the man who england miss more than any one else is the man with nomber 7 on his shirt.
david beckham.
many can say that he was not good in the world cup. maybe!!!
still, he scored the winner against ecuador, his free kick resulted on the winner against paraguay and crossed the first goal agains trenedad.
even when he wasnt in good form, he was always capable of producing a moment of brilliance.
he was always the mvp of england.

garbage.we were relying on a pair of kids in our last 2 tournaments to take on the big-boys in the quarter-finals when beckham did his usual disappearing act.Rooney in 2004 and Lennon in 2006 were our only hope as the "worlds most famous footballer" collapsed in his own self-important plastic nothingness yet again.Hopefully next time we get to a major tournament and play a nation with a history of knowing how to kick a ball,we`ll have players who have the bottle to take them on on the pitch and not just have the ability to wave their gross wages and sponsorship deals in their faces and expect them to lay down.

All England strikers will look out of their depths when all the midfield do is fart around. Look at most of Rooney's, Owen's and even Ronaldo's goals all come from being able to run in space and that aint going to happen when the defence and midfield are so slow to move the ball forward Too many cross/back passes from far Frank. Ok hoofing the ball up to the forwards and then standing and watching is not the answer nor is a ball out on the wings to be centered to our 2 forwards against 8 defenders but we need midfielders who can run with the ball (not backwards Frank) or make telling passes we need to hit teams on the counter attack(look at all those goals against the Germans) unfortunately every team has got wise to England and know that if they get loads of people behind the ball we haven't a clue. Rooney used to run at defences whats happened to him? Has he been 'taught' too much by the likes of McClaren?

Owen is of English descent, and always considered himself English (his own words) so he wouldn't have played for Wales despite growing up a few miles inside Wales. For someone who claims "who needs him" you sure seem bitter about it.

And clearly, Wales needs SOME help -- when did they last qualify for anything?

Owen may not be the answer to all England's problems (like, oh say, the unholy mess in midfield) but England never went 5 matches without a goal when he was in the squad.

I dont think this match was just about Owen, but where was Gerrard playing in this match? Central and it was him who made us tick and we played well.

McClaren get some balls and drop Lampard NOW!

lets face it...England don't just need owen. They need a miracle. They look a poor and week side against how they did look maybe 5 yrs ago, and they wern't that good then.

I hope that i dont see England struggle against Andorra tonight, but I have nasty feeling they might!!

If Owen is not capable of playing for Newcastle then he is not capable of playing for England.
