Jayasuriya Back in destructive form

One-day internationals Sri Lanka

comment on the article

It was an unimaginable innings from Sri Lanka's explosive Jayasuriya who smashed a 109 in a mere 87 balls which compromised 7 maximums and 7 fours. The left hander however had to leave early due to a hamstring injury and when he returned in the 48th over, his running between the wickets was like a rewinding back to 1992 seeing him as a young teenager. A huge six just inside the ropes confirmed his century and another low flyer confirmed that he was still at his destructive status. Unfortunately for Bangladesh his wicket came too late when he tried to hit it behind off Razzak and the damage was already done. However though if he had stuck around then Sri Lanka would have made just about 335, although 318 was more than enough. I felt though that he wanted to leave and that could be understood since his injury looked quite bad. Nice batting Master blaster, keep it up and Sri Lanka can extend their chance in the world cup!

Sri Lankan were really the performers, there is no doubt about it.

I guess india_can_win wants everyone to change their nickname to india_cant_win!

i agree with theroos, ... SL come through as dark horses and beat NZ in the final... that's exactly what's in my mind, nobody is talking about NZ these days...

my sense would be: the deserving team should move on to s8, not the emotional favorites... in gr b, barbs w/ 3 losses (to be defeated by bd on fri), go home; indis w/ 2 losses(to be destroyed again by strong sl on fri) go home, bd 2 wins and sl 3 wins move on. there is no place for arrogants, look at the paks who're packing home so so quickly... let's enjoy the s8 with decent people...

good article amanahmed! 5*

theroos spot on, got to treat india like a must-win. if we lose it and us and india progress then we have effectivley lost a super8 match.

Good article.... Ya i too think that we'll meet NZ in the finals. It'll be, SA, Aus, SL, NZ in the semis.. Our batting line up seems very strong and glad to see they're on top form... India will be hammered tomorrow because i don't think they can bat against our bowlers like vaas, destructive malinga, murali etc.. Good luck SL...

SriLanka all the way!
This team reminds me the 1996 SL team. We have an explosive opening pair, a good captain and a well balanced team with excellent bowlers.

Yeah right, SL will hammer india; just the way they have hammered them 3 TIMES OUT OF 10 in the last ten meetings.
