Derby 2007

Hi All, new to the site, has anyone got any info on some of the early derby favourites?

I know a bit about Teofilo and Mount Nelson. Who owns Authorised and what did he race in last year? Any info on Eagle Mountain, Macathur and strategic prince would be good!

Is Teofilo really that good, I missed his race last year, but he stormed home beating Holy Roman Emperor apparently. Is HRE the one thats been retired to stud already?

HRE wouldn't even stay 12f anyway. Teofilo looks the one to beat but I've backed MacArthur at a big price though to small stakes.

what price can you get o'brien doesnt win any of the english classics this year? with the retirement of HRE ballydoyle doesnt have any horses i would give a winning chance to in any of the 5 classics this season. i think bolger could win 3 and possibly even 4 but i dont think o'brien will get any!!

Teofilio is the talking horse at present & is very short priced for the Derby. There will be a horse somwhere who might not even have run yet who will emerge (there is nearly every year)and could be a world beater so I would be very cautious about backing anything for the Derby at this stage.

I agree that O'Brien doesnt have as strong a bunch of Classic contenders this year as in previous. However, Id like to throw Admiralofthefleet into the hat. I've backed him at big odds for the Derby after he won at Group Level over a mile last year. Teofilo looks made for the Derby though - not so sure about the Guineas. Has anyone discussed Triple Crown?

Sorry MightyMoyes but I can't get into the RP to see his entries. I think he has 17 left in it if that helps at all. MacArthur is still top priced 20/1 for the Derby.

If Godolphins best Guineas entry is at 25/1, remember that Kauto Star(whom I backed)
was as high as 16/1 at the same stage deficit for the Gold Cup, prolple knocked him and proved everyone wrong. The same applies for Godolphins Guineas entries - wait until May, you might be surprised - and I would lay a bet on that!!
