Valdas Ivanauskas leaves Hearts

Scottish Premier Heart of Midlothian
by Riquelme (U6519878) 20 March 2007
comment on the article

Hearts head coach Valdas Ivanauskas has left the club by mutual consent.

The Lithuanian, 40, who had been absent from Tynecastle for three weeks on "football business", said he was proud of the players in the squad.

He also praised Hearts fans as "the best in Scotland".

During his tenure, the Edinburgh club won the Scottish Cup and showed sporadic signs of challenging the Old Firm in the race for the SPL title.

But his squad rotation policy appeared to unsettle the players - with former captain Steven Pressley and Paul Hartley being sold after speaking publicly about dressing room unrest.

Where do Hearts go from here?

Should interim head coach Anatoly Korobochka get the job on a permanent basis?

Who would you like to see replace the Lithuanian?

Can Hearts fans look to the future with grounds for optimism, now that Ivanauskas has left Tynecastle?

No manager is truly allowed to manage, Riquelme, they are merely coaches.

The coaching of the players, I would suggest, is a total shambles

If you look at other clubs, you'd probably see an improvement in some players. We see very little improvement.

Who would I like to replace Valdas Ivanauskas?

Dick Advocaat (only joking). No, I would like Guus Hiddinck. Unfortunately, as another poster indicated, the next or current coach is or will be merely a puppet in the continued 'master' plan of Lithuanian Rule.

Obviously, this Romanov has promised much to the Kaunas players. And it seems to be promises he is keeping.

I personally do not think all the Lithuanian players are p1sh but even the ones I think are 'acceptable' need to take more resposibility on the park. The leaders have gone. They should not assume the leaders have to be scots - why should the scots take the burden on? Language ia big problem for these players, too, though the Hearts support was speaking in a language big Jankauskas understood full well, looking at his puss at full time.

Big deal. Was Ivanspineless ever there anyway. Sick leave, football business and holidays. The fans have spent more time at Tyncastle than he has since he took over and they are only there for a couple of hours every other week.

Good ridance to another Jerkov puppet.

I remembering commenting on s very simliar story at Hearts over a year ago. Im sick of seeing this story on BBC, I have 3 clear words to state. Sack the board. The chairman is clearly insane, hasnt a clue about what football means let alone how to choose a manager, or what a managers job description entails. Is this guy trying to become a new type of chairmen, revolutionising football as he goes!? because sacking a manager every 4 months is no way of going about it!! an absolute farce, and if I were a Hearts fan I would be ripping my hair out. Then again, im a Leeds fan and we're experiencing "other" types of chairman difficulties! hope things finally get stabalised for all you Hearts fans anyway! you surely deserve that at least!

It seems to be a total joke up at Hearts. I feel for the fans, having their club managed in such a poor state.

I would'nt say it was the fault of the manager, more the fault of the players. They can't seem to be able to work together on the pitch as shown against Dundee Utd. Steven Frail added on an interview the players were eating and training in their nationalities which does not seem like the way a team should work. I dont think it was the fault of Valdas it was the player's morale.

Why would it actually be a shock to have a Hearts manager sacked by vlad the mad?

The only manager that will be supported by the board is the manager that allows the team to be controlled by the board. The continuation of the board to buy in second rate eastern european players is about the same as us plundering division 2 and 3 of Scotland..at least most of those players will have heard of Hearts...

Who would the fans like to take over? Well what does it matter what the fans think? the chairman is not interested.... he will put in place a puppet, continue to support the national debt of Lithuania....whilst sucking the life out of Hearts.

Hearts had one of the best experienced managers they could have hoped to get with George Burley...

This is not the board investing in the future of hearts or going through a phase of trial and error...this is complete mis-management at board level...and those fans that seem to believe that this character has the long term future of the club at his soul appear to be blinded by that early cup win (which didnt have that many of the chairmans players involved I believe)...

I remember Romanov saying quite early on during his reign of terror that he'd like to see the Lithuanian National team playing in Scotland. I say let him and watch as his country's finest are beaten by Falkirk. What a buzz he'd get from that.

One thing is clear, the whole club is one big mess, i've seen Hearts playing, they have no strategy at all, one man is to be blamed for this smiley
I believe some Lithuanian players are quite good but there are way too many of them and romanov is making one big mess there, since when this man knows something about football? in a sad way he represents my country smiley

it's clearly not in the interests of Scottish football to have Romanov owning Hearts. I'm waiting for Holyrood to get involved and force him to sell to... heck, anyone would do a better job.

as a pars fan, the one thing I have to be happy about at the moment is that at least our chairman knows something about football.
