Alas, India up and running

One-day internationals India

As an India fan, it’s good to be able to say that India are off from their slow start at last in this World Cup. They’re renowned slow starters and alas they’re up and running.

I knew as lots of other people did that it was only a matter of time before Sehwag made that big score to silence his critics. Yes he got a century against way below par opposition, but it’s a start which should lead onto better things. India will now go on one would think to win by a big margin as Bermuda don’t have any particularly established batsmen apart from David Hemp, and that’s only one out of eleven isn’t it! Ganguly continues his good form with 89, and it was a shame when he was out stumped after he deserved a hundred. Good to see Yuvraj Singh get some runs as we need that solidity in the middle order. Tendulkar’s off the mark with a handy and good score, more big scores from him in this World Cup I hope. It was an all round team effort in the batting today, now it needs the bowlers to follow suit which they’ll surely do. Hopefully lndia will win against Sri Lanka on Friday, they are a tough opposition, but now India are seemingly off the mark in this World Cup, I can see them going on to greater things.

I just wondered what your views are on these smaller associate nations playing in the World Cup. Those such as Bermuda, Canada, and Holland. Personally, I think it can only be good for these nations to be recognised as cricket Teams, yet on the other hand there are those who will say that they’re no good when they provide all these mismatches. Occasionally they’ll pull off a surprise such as yesterday when Canada ran England pretty close yesterday. Yes, and I know Bangladesh beat India last Saturday, but all I can say is well played Bangladesh, and India meanwhile need to improve their slow starts in tournaments.

Any views anyone on the above

Was it a case of really looking away from the opposition when it was a must win situation, against Bangladesh. May be Indian players should have given the due consideration and studied the Bang team and prepared for them. On the other hand Bang team like any other team must have spent a good amount of time analysing and planning against the strengths of the Indian players.

I hope someone will learn from these lessons, the Cricket board, the Coach, the Manager, the Skipper, and also the players.

Indian cricket team is always an talented team, especially their batting is very good, but at times they are inconsistent. So it is upto the experienced players to take the responsibility and perform against the Lankans, who are looking good.

It will be better that Virender will not be overconfindence after his century against bermuda.

Irvine Romaine was exactly right to put India into bat. Bermuda's only chance was that India might foul things up and they'd have a chaseable total. Also, they probably wanted to be sure that they got a decent amount of play, as World Cup experience is invaluable for such a team. And no, I don't work for the ICC! winkeye

This smacks of 2003 world cup when India beat up on the weak teams like Namibia only to get smoked by Australia in the final. The lack of penetrating bowling is a major concern. Agarkar and Khan are not dangerous bowlers. Pathan, Munaf Patel, and Sreesanth should be used against Sri Lanka with Kumble for spin.

Agarkar is not playing upto his mark, i think they shud give Sreesanth a chance. With the new ball doing something, he might get 2/3 wickets atleast.

India team should be ashamed for loosing the first match. I believe that they are just playing for the money and looking after out of form players. They should pick Sreesanth for the next match because he can provide lot of aggression and mental ability to perform on a tight matches... Ganguly and Uthappa should open the innings. I do not believe that Sehwag will be successful and he should be dropped and cannot gamble in the last qualifying match.ok

Bangladesh game was a wake up call for India and its good that they are back but even if they scored 500 runs it wouldn't clear the mess they've created. The fact is that they have to beat SL full stop. SL will play to win and that is the game to watch but fingers are crossed!!

If India beats SL and SL beats BD, India and SL will move into Super Eight because BD will have lower NRR unless BD can score 400 runs vs Bermuda.

Not a start which everyone would have thought!!!!!! India losing out to B'desh......
Had India won the first match we would have qualified for the next round.
Now it will be more difficult.

Anything can happen.....
Lanka lose today to B'desh..... Then we need to beat them anyhow.
Lanka wins today.....then we beat Lanka..... B'desh beats Bermuda...... 3 teams on 4 points.....

Had we won the first match this would have never had happened.
Another poor performance in start.
If India does not qualify for the next round..... SACK EVERYONE. Greg, Dravid, Sachin, Shewag, Ganguly..... Get in a new Coach.... Azhar...... give this great man a chance...... what has happened in the past forget it........

GOD SAVE INDIAN CRICKET.......
