The players seem to be encouraging Rafa to go home.I've heard people say 'Robbies past it'!!!You're joking ,with better quality around him he'd be banging them in week after week.Once these yanks get their feet under the table the wheat will soon be sorted from the chaffe and there'll be a rude awakening for some of the dross.Anyway ,we didn't lose, and the bluenoses did us a great favour, that must really sicken them!!!!smileysmileywinkeyewinkeye

Hi you lot, Ian in Oz here (new member, Liverpool thru n thru, missing Prem footy here in Sydney!) I agree with most of your comments, and from what I can see, we are now consolodating 3rd / 4th and Champs League qualification. We won't catch the Mancs or Chelski, and we don't want any bad injuries for the remainder of the season. Big euro games coming up in both Champions League & Euro qualifiers, so pace ourselves we must. If Benitez can get a top line striker in the summer, we may do better next year. I know we always say that, but you have to deal with the reality as it unfolds. You name any club in the Prem from 5th down that wouldn't swap with us and I'll show you b******t!! Ha Ha!! If we can beat PSV in the quarters, I'll have monkey on us to go on and win the Champs league AGAIN FOR THE 6th TIME!! Can you hear that Mancs & Chelski Chequebooks???? Have a great week lads!!

Poor from both teams today, as a villa fan we were poor today, as the home team we should of stepped it up

Liverpool, you should step the pace up a little, the few times that you moved the ball quickly you looked like cutting us open but most of the time it was a little too slow and it allowed villa to get numbers behind the ball.

Defensively one of the best teams down villa park this season, as we created basically nothing all game

Fairly happy fowler only was on for 10 minutes so he had no time to add to the 50 carears goals he has already scored against us

Lots of people been talking bout the weather at the game - the blizzards only hit on the drive home after the game.

Other than that, neither team seemed to really want to take the game on, perhaps we (villa) were scared of a counter-attack, or maybe you they were worried we couls scrape a goal against run of play too... Either way, it showed that this long ball tactic doesn't work - not for Liverpool and their pacey Bellamy, or for Villa and their hulking target man Carew.

Having said that, Liverpool tried passing their way through and were cut out, and most of our passes were dross anyway.

How McCann got onto Garth's team of the week I don't know, his range of passing is astonishinly poor, especially given the fact that he only has to hit one central for Carew to latch on and one wide for the kids to run onto.

Barry for England.

It was a poor game. Perhaps both sides thought that a draw would do. Villa's point keeps them a bit further from trouble and Liverpool seemed ok with a point since there's not much difference between 3rd or 4th.
I assume even if Platini gets his way it won't be for another year?

Having said all that, I was disappointed that both teams didn't go for it.

I'm sorry but yet again Sissoko was rubbish. He can't pass, can't run with the ball at his feet and controls it further than I could kick it. He tries to do flicks and passes but just gives it away over and over again. I spend so much time swearing at the TV every time he gives the ball away and FINALLY Benitez took him off first yesterday instead of Bellamy like he normally does. Is there anywhere on the internet that gives each player's stats, minutes on pitch and completed passes etc. I'd love to have proof to show how crap he is.

Amazingly though he didn't get booked for once.

I was annoyed yesterday at how long Benitez left it before changing it round. Bellamy always seems to be our liveliest attacker but always gets subbed whereas Kuyt was hardly involved and gets 90 mins. Fowler was such a breath of fresh air when he came on and was unlucky not to win it for us. Could've done with Crouch yesterday to win stuff in the penalty area. Sorensen had next to nothing to do the whole game - we rarely got near their goal for all the possession we had.

one of the worst games of football in living memory.

villa looked like they were just waiting for liverpool to blow them away for most of the game but they never did.

maybe if villa had got that penalty the game might have been more open in the second half, but they didn't and both sides ought to feel ashamed of themselves for such a turgid effort

i meant the players and coaching staff should feel ashamed, not the fans.

still, i know what you mean about wasting a couple of hours of your life, mne of my mates is a villa fan so we went to the pub to watch it, i could have lived my life quite happily without those three pints of lager

Grim result, I can't believe we couldn't score one against VILLA.

And to make matters worse we could have made up extra ground because of Arsenal's defeat. sadface

Didn't see the match - did we play as badly as these posts indicate?
