Herschel Gibbs just hit 6 sixes in a row against Holland.

Don't Jonhnny Walker have to give a million quid to charity now?

Wow what a contrast with the England game.

Congratulations!

Well what an achievement indeed...? I'm Dutch and wasn't even aware that we had a cricket team, and was barely aware that cricket was a sport... The latter must be taken with a pinch of salt as I live now almost 3 years in the UK, and indeed you see sometimes these strange men in their white outfit trying to hit a ball with a rather oddly shaped baseball bat. Cricket is probably as rarely played as "korfbal" which is a Dutch invention. By the way the only sport in the world whereby males and females compete together without the males having their "natural" phsyical advantage.
But of course also in cricket I do support my country: aanvalluuuh! (attack!). winkeye

Yeah right... savvy enough to be posting on a cricket forum , but unaware of your National team...you'll have to better than that to belittle Herche's fine achievement.

Zombiefilmstudent, sorry but you have missed my point. I was not saying that the Dutch and Bermudans are actually 7 years old, I was merely saying that in the Cricket World Family, they are the equivalent of children.

If the sport is to become truly global, we must take care of these sides -- beat them comfortably, sure, to get the points, but please dont laugh at them, as Gibbs has done to van Bunge.

If the minnows get humiliated, cricket will remain a closed shop of about 10 nations.

Look at what has been achieved with Bangladesh! With the right support and care, the likes of Holland and Canada could be beating top nations in 15 years' time!

Still, maybe that's just the point. The more cricket nations there are who can compete, the less likely for any of the big boys to win a World Cup.

Imagine 15 potential World Cup Winners instead of 8?

That would never do for the "closed shop" brigade, would it?

I would like to see the day where a true champion takes on achampion bowler albiet even a spinner and hits 6 sixes in the over at the highest level

The closest I have seen is 4 succesive sixes by Afridi in a Test against Harbajan Singh

Umm... do Johnny Walker have to pay out again if someone else does it?

therewesaiditdotcom — your comments are foul and you should be ashamed of them. Gibbs was incredibly young and naive at the time, never even accepted any money — as soon as he came to and realised what he was doing he pulled out of the deal. Far from 'squalid', Gibbs has been a wonderful cricketer to watch for his entire career. Good on 'im.

I thought it all rather sad, really. For some reason I was unimpressed with the batsman, just sorry for the bowler. After all the guy was out of his league but doing his best. Now goes down in the records in quite he wrong way. Shame.
