West Indies v Pakistan

World Cup West Indies
comment on the article
The 2007 Cricket World Cup

All-rounder Dwayne Smith hit 32 off 15 balls and took three big wickets with his medium-paced seamers as West Indies won the World Cup opener by 54 runs.

What did you make of the first match of the World Cup, are you surprised with the ease of the West Indies win?

pakistan have a bit of a problem with their captain. inzi is a quality batsman but he struggled yesterday because of his inability to run quick singles and to turn one's into twos. how many times did he hit a good shot to the left or right of the fielder on the boundary at deep backward point/cover and only get one for it. I can't hink of any other batsmen at the WC unwilling to run their runs. he can get away with it in test match cricket but not in ODI's. but they can't drop him either. would hate to be in bob woolmers shoes right now...

Lets face it Inzy is winning no awards for fitness.

Imran Khan used to make him do pressups when he caused a run out but now he is captain that is long gone.

I think Pakistan need to make a lot of changes and stop bringing back the same old players.

They should look to build a team around Mohammed Yusuf and Younis Khan and bring in some new talent instead of bringing back the likes of Rana etc whose bowling was terrible.

man!!! it does not even matter what anyone says windies have the ability to knock off any team it just depends on the mood and tempo of the players ...the crowd dont make it easy for the opposition so everyone bewear of the windies....

Scots v Aussies
just logged on..
cannot believe they put the Aussies in to bat!!!
What an insane decision.
Aussies will pile up 300 and shoot out the scots for 120. Just what they needed.
Just wait and see...

The West Indies are massive contenders, make no mistake about it. Pakistan were easily beaten and if the windies can find some consistency they will be very difficult to beat.

As usual the supposed deluge of talent on the Pakistani team has been exposed. The opening batsmen, are again culpable of offering nothing more than a poor performance. The Pakistani bowlers have no sting and are toothless, as evidenced by strong batting performance by a weak West Indies team.
Shocking, perhaps not!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only chance the minnows have in any game is to bowl first, and (somehow) manage to bowl the opposition out and chase a small score.

If the bat first, they will never pass 200, and will never be able to put any pressure on their opponents.

Remember, Ireland bowled first against South Africa t'other day, and have them 100-8 at one stage!
