Larsson has the last word at Old Trafford

Manchester United
comment on the article

The only way players usually leave Manchester United is if they have upset manager Sir Alex Ferguson or you are deemed surplus to requirements.

Henrik Larsson has left Old Trafford after his three-month loan stint and his exit is an altogether different scenario as he departs by his own accord.

The temptation to stay on at United as they challenge for another historic Treble must have reverberated through his soul but, a man of his word, he has resisted.

The agreement was to return to Helsingborg after 12 March and Larsson is sticking to it... Read the full article here:

What do you make of Larsson's departure from Old Trafford? Do you think he has done the right thing or should he have stayed until the end of the season?

Goog bye Henrik pitty you lacked the ambition to join a real football club when you still had some pace........

What you saying, that he should have played for the more prestigious club rather than the one where fans wanted him?

And Dong??? Well who cares he's crap

----

Who's the mush who said this?

And I take it you've watched him every week for the past 2 years for Antwerp have you?

This boy promises to be a very, very good player and had a very good pre-season. Looks sharp! Scored a decent amount for Antwerp while on loan too. When he becomes a first team regular and scoring goals you'll learn to shut your trap next time you decide to speak before you know!

I feel sorry you feel that way. But Celtic fans loved him and that was what he wanted. And that Ferguson signed him at 35 must mean something even for you. But all the best with out Mr Larsson

Rooney will explode now that Larsson is gone. I am sure he has learnt a lot from him.

what a great player henrik is! as a barca fan, I would like to thank him for the thou1000th time for everything. it is really rare to find such a pro, gracious, talented & influntial player like him.
unfortunately, he didnt stay in barca for another year. we really missed him and needed him in the difficult piriod that we faced.
Im also sure that united fans will miss him cos he leaves an impact everywhere even if he dosnt stay for a long while.
thanks dear henrik. u will be remembered as one of the freats.
good luck!

JinksyOars, good argument. The only bit I would take you task over is your statement about the 'myth' surrounding the perceived 'gulf in class' in talent between Scotland & England. I don't think Larsson proves your point, I just think he is one of the few exceptions to the rule. He could've left Celtic at any point with a number of clubs after him, but being a man of his word, and an honourable gent, chose to stay. The Premiership has had a far greater abundance of world class players over the years. Who have Scotland had in recent years: Henrik Larsson, Paul Gascgoine, Brian Laudrup, Craig Gordon... ;o). If you've watched a single SPL game this season, you must see how poor the league is?

There is no doubt larsson has had an impact on the players at man u. In their recent game against Bolton there were definite signs that Rooney has learned from Larsson. In Man u's second goal where ronaldo and rooney broke away from their own box- Rooney's touch to Ronaldo and his movement was a carbon copy of what Larsson does so well. Rooney of old might have tried to skin the man and do it himself. The chipped finish was also Larssonesque. Larsson is a great player and would be missed from any side in the world

It upsets me to hear some people disrespecting tho obvious talent of henrik larsson. While it is true that the scottish league is not a strong one there has been more to larssons career than celtic. Lets not forget that he currently holds the record for goals scored in europe for a single british club and none of those goals were scored against scottish opposition. lets not forget that he has scored goals for his country in 5 major international tournament finals including 3 world cups not including the goals he scored in qualification rounds and many of these were quality sides including italy and england. lets not forget the two goals he scored against porto in the uefa cup final and the way he changed the european cup final (all be it for ten minutes). he has now scored goals in three european leagues, in three european national cups and also for three different teams in the european champions cup.
At 35 he is still one of the most influential players out there and even players in their prime will not score a bag full of goals for a new club in their first dozen games. larsson has left united with way more than three goals he has left our younger players a little more wiser and a little more mature. he will be missed as a professional and as a mentor.
And surely if nothing else we should be eternaly grateful to Larsson for the part he played in stopping arsenal from winning the champions cup.
So have a little more respect when talking about henrik Larsson.
