11 Ways for Wales to Start Winning Again

Wales
comment on the article

1) Sack the coach and bring Mike Ruddock back.

2) Play this team:
1. G. Jenkins
2. M. Rees
3. C. Horsman
4. I. Gough
5. A-W. Jones
6. M. Williams
7. A. Popham
8. R. Jones
9. D. Peel
10. J. Hook
11. S. Williams
12. G. Henson
13. T. Shanklin
14. M. Jones
15. K. Morgan

3) Get rid of Gareth Thomas.

4) Sort the scrums out.

5) Sort the line-outs out.

6) Send Duncan and Adam Jones to see dieticians.

7) Leave Ryan Jones alone. He's one of our best players.

8) Bring S. Jones back if Henson is off form, but without the capataincy.

9) Appoint a new captain- out of the backs I'd think Shanklin would be best, and from the forwards probably Martyn Williams.

10) Start playing attacking, running rugby like in 2005 and in the 70's.

11) PRAY!

Yeah i agree that Peel is class - my opnion that Phillips should replace him is not based on his performance or that i rate him badly. I just think that we lack tenacity, although Peel is world class, Phillips would supply us with much needed aggression, and often acts as an extra forward because of his obvious strength. I think Charvis would add another tenacious edge to the forwards, and would win us plenty of ball hopefully. Yeah i guess my comment on henson starting is only valid if he is fit. I think even if he is it is a gamble as he hasnt been on form, but then again having lost 4 on the trot maybe we should make a few changes and shake it up a little. After all we don't have a great deal to lose at the moment, and on the current format im afraid we wont get near the English.

Wales can start winning again by PLAYING RUGBY, they need to be faster on the ball at the back of rucks and to learn to run the ball instead of stupidly kicking it away to nowhere and not finding touch. Something is wrong with welsh rugby at the moment theres no doubt, but I think we all need to give Gareth Jenkins and Stephen Jones a chance to prove themselves as leaders and its not all down to them there are 15 players out on that pitch and they all need to take responsibility and sort it out. We have been here before and have come back from it, but is there enough time before september and the world cup?.

I agree something must be done. It's difficult to think how we went from a Grand Slam to the situation we are in now and I can't help wondering what would be the situation if Ruddock were in control now. I would also agree with those who compare Hook to Dan Carter. So, playing Hook at 12 is not for me an option, he should play at 10. Yet again, a coach has been caught out naming a skipper for a period of time, only to find it was misplaced. But then, who should be the skipper?

There was no mistake by the ref. Wales were not fast enough in the kick. The real, horrible mistake, was not to kick for goal. Are they so sure they would have scored a try against one of the best defensive teams (perhaps the best in the 6 nations)?

Erm, there was a mistake from the ref, and he has held his hands up and apologised. The 3 seconds that elapsed between him saying there were 10 seconds left, and the ball crossing the line for the lineout, do not constitute Wales not being fast enough. But the real point is why are we 3 points behind a side like Italy during the 79th minute of a match?

In 2005 Wales were basically playing RL, v.quick rucks, off-loading in the tackle, avoiding set pieces.

1. Kevin Morgan 2. Gareth Thomas 3. J.Robinson 4. Shanklin 5. M.Jones 6. J.Hook 7. Peel 8. Popham 9. Cunningham 10. Gethin Jenkins 11. Dafydd James 12. Ryan Jones 13. Mike Phillips

Interchange :- 14. Duncan Jones 15. Dafydd Jones 16. Colin Charvis 17. Shane Williams

Looks good to me, a winning team.

Most of you miss the point, the New Zealanders want to win it's not about the money, being on tv or radio giving opinions. They are professional would run through a brick wall for team mates play with passion and don't like losing the most important thing for a New Zealander is that black shirt! Wales are more interested in how much money they get, giving their pityfull opinions on how good they're pathetic team mates are playing when people criticise them, when to tell the truth they've been awful. Another problem is they believe the crap their team mates are saying when they defend their poor performances. If you have'nt got a heart or guts then in this day and age you will get knowhere. What the Italians lose in flair and skill they make up with heart along with the Argentinians Who are starting to leave Wales in their wake.

As an Englishman its great to watch th Welsh self implode. They have slagged off England all 6N now look at them. Best thing for England is to see Jones at FH. Possibly the most over rated FH in the world. Cant wait until Saturday its going to be a cracker. If England pick up were they left off Wales will be up against it.The taffs will fight to the death I hope they dont blame the ref or the tea lady if they loose just accept that they are not a good as they think they are.Bring it On

Hi neathscouse,

Rugby is a game of forward domination, Wales haven't had even parity most of the games so far this year. Defence and will to win/heart is certainly not a problem. Size and strength is.
