Browse: Tennis Brit-Watch: Indian Wells Mastersby Ruggers (U3472595) 07 March 2007 Andy Murray reached the semi-finals of Indian Wells where he lost to rival and friend Novak Djokovic. Preceding that match he had an eventful and brilliant victory over Tommy Haas where he had to overcome the form man, injury and save two match-points. Those injuries took their toll. However while Murray has missed out on the chance of breaking into the top ten this week, with few points to defend in the next few tournaments it is surely inevitable. kenchang (U7816693) posted Mar 19, 2007 Thank you Dr Richie. Im sure u r a very civilised man by the way you have made your comment. Yes, look up atptennis.com. and look up past champions. You will see that Andrez Gomez was the guy who beat Agassi in his first grand slam final in 1990. The score was 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, n 6-4 to Gomez. He is one of the oldest grand slam champions. Thank you.

IncredibleAldo (U5508311) posted Mar 19, 2007 Kerchang what are you on? How are you doing andy any good? one minute you are saying he is rotten and will never win a slam and the next you are saying he can win one this year. Do you think the art of confusion helps top pro's? Do you think Andy reads your nonsense?

kenchang (U7816693) posted Mar 19, 2007 Andres Gomez was from Ecuador and sorry he was only 30 years of age when he won the french against Agassi. He was left handed n the French was the only remarkable thing that he won! N he is remembered till this day except by the baby-milk-bottle tennis fans like the Andy Murray fans who only watch wimbledon n Henman or Murray!

Ruggers (U3472595) posted Mar 19, 2007 Very interesting points raised on all sides, but kenchang does it matter if Murray becomes a great of the game or not? Is that not an unfair expectation of him that he must win a Grand Slam or will be deemed a failure in a sport as competitive as tennis?

englebarn (U6218307) posted Mar 19, 2007 kenchang does make a valid point: despite his talent, Murray never loses because his opponent is better, it's always because he's injured. There's always something to blame: at Wimbledon it was cramping, during the US hard court season last summer it was blisters, against Nadal at the US Open he was holding his side whenver he lost a point etc.

kenchang (U7816693) posted Mar 19, 2007 Thanks Engle. At least some1 has seen my point of view. Believe me I love Andy Murray. I recognise his talent n wissh him well, but its time a British tennis player does something spectacular- win wimbledon! Its been almost 80years since a British man won your own local tournament!

kenchang (U7816693) posted Mar 19, 2007 Ashes, Tiger Tim was or is deemed a failure just bcos he could not win a slam! Which I think is unfair on the poor guy bcos he was playing against legends of the time- Sampras, Agassi, Ivanisevic, etc... so why should the expectation be any different for Andy Murray?
