Why Spurs will win ...

FA Cup Tottenham Hotspur
comment on the article

Morning everyone,

My colleagues on the BBC Sport football desk are preparing a feature about Sunday's Chelsea-Spurs FA Cup quarter-final.

As part of the feature they plan to incorporate the thoughts of the fans on where the game will be won and lost. So I want to know why Spurs will win. Any Chelsea fans looking in should not fear - my colleague Owen has published a separate thread for you guys on why Jose's boys will triumph. So here I'm just looking for thoughts from the Spurs fans on where Martin's men will come out on top.

I'm thinking Lennon will be a big factor - so too will Berbatov. But where else will Spurs win the game? Let me know - I'll pop back in here from time to time today (I love a Spurs chat as many of you will know already) and on Wednesday we'll gather the best posts and use them in the feature on bbc.co.uk/sport.

That feature is due to be published on Friday, but obviously the conversation can continue right up to the game (which I'm going to by the way, not for work but as a fan - can't wait). For those not going, a reminder that the game is live on the BBC.

Lewis.

I have been captured by the teamwork that the manager has installed in this present outfit. All things considered spurs are are an equal match for chelsea in this winner take all game. My money is firmly on them especially @13/2 bookies are throwing money at you. get onboard.cool

Spurs have always been a good cup team and they have a good chance against Chelsea, but (and it's a biggish but given past performances) they need to remember that the game's not over until the ref blows time! Too many times they slack off in the last 5 minutes of a half or a match and go down to a late goal. After their efforts against West Ham maybe they are getting the idea that they can score goals in the last 5 minutes and not just concede them.

Jol has built up a world-class team in my eyes and a team well capable of beating Chelsea and ending the Stamford Bridge Hoodoo!
If he plays a similar team to the one at West-Ham and Braga surely we will get into the Semis!

whether mourinho plays terry and cole, both carrying knocks or plays bridge with whoeva he wants to play in terry's place, chelsea will get exploited by lennon, as he will cut through 2 injured plays, and will as easily be able to cut past two players who dont play regularly together... as a spurs fan im growing in confidence about this game

It looks like Robbo, King, Jenas and Keane are all out. King we knew about but the rest are a big blow especially the way Robbie has been playing of late.

I would guess the team will be

Cerny

Chimbonda, Dawson, Gardner, Lee

Lennon, Zokora, Tainio, Malbranque

Berbatov, Defoe

But with MJ it could anything! What price Mido to start?

As has been said Daws must contain Drogba. I hope Robben doesn't play as I am not confident of containing him if he gets at an unprotected YPLee.

Berbs can play against anyone although I would prefer JT to be out and Essien to be marking him! I also fancy Lennon against Diarra at RB. Defoe is capable of scoring against anyone.

Seems a strange thing to say but we must take the game to them. If we sit back and try to defend we will lose as half of the back four are not up to doing it for 90 minutes. Gardner I like but he looks awkward which I am sure leads to a number of decisions going against him - penalty at Braga for instance.

Yep- with Jol you just never know. He is positive and I think the players seem positive, which will make up to some degree for the lack of available 1st team players.

Lennon will make or break this one I think. We can't afford any defensive hashes, which has let us down many times this season.

Anyway- all the best lads!

Mido to start- I think so, with Defoe as the sub, which we wont need in desperation like our other north london colleagues earlier this week smiley
