Hammers may face points deduction

Premiership West Ham United
comment on the article

"West Ham could face disciplinary action from the Premier League for fielding two ineligible players.
The Hammers are the subject of an investigation into the registrations of Argentina World Cup stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

Tevez, 23 and Mascherano, 22, joined in August, but their registration with third party Media Sports Investment may have breached regulations.

The Premiership strugglers could lose points if they are found guilty.

A points deduction would almost certainly condemn West Ham to the Championship as they are already 19th, nine points away from safety.

Tevez and Mascherano joined West Ham on 31 August from Brazilian side Corinthians, but the deal was brokered by MSI, who owned the rights to the two players.

The Hammers reportedly failed to hand over vital documentation to the Premier League and could be charged under rule U18 concerning the influence of third-party ownership.

Mascherano has since left the Upton Park club to move to Liverpool."

Sorry guy's looks like one more nail in the coffin, let me know what you guy's think to you being Relegated AND the Point's deduction?

If the FA do not act severely against West Ham in ridding corruption out of our beautiful game then the FA would have absolutely no credibility and hence open up our game even more to exploitation and corruption. The FA have a responsibility in protecting our national game and West Ham should only the the start of the clean up. Liverpools signings of Mascherano, Gonzalez and Palletta should be severely scrutnised too as well as Arsenals signings of Denilson and Eboue

I said Arsenal and Man United as the best two football teams, after all you can hardly call what Chelski play football.

The point is, soon West Ham may have 14 points.

If you take out the wins against Man Utd and Arsenal, who most people at the time would have assumed they would not have won.

That leaves 14 points from the ramining 26 games.

I have to admit I dont like the idea of London teams such as West Ham outside the premiership, especially as they are a proper football side unlike teams like Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers who consider venturing beyond the half way line a kind of trip into no mans land.

However 14 points from the remaining 26 games is truly dreadful.

I love going to

We hammers fans were happy when the club signed Mascherano and Tevez, but with the deal shrouded in mystery and speculation, who didn't worry about there being something possibly shady about it all, and that it wouldn't come back later and bite us on the bum.

There are a few burning questions that we West Ham fans (and football fans in general) need answering a.s.a.p. and the FA/Premier League and the board at West Ham (old and new) need to come clean.

1. Are they part owned by someone else? If so, did they tell the FA, and if not, how did we get them?

2. How can our use of these players be illegal, but not so for Liverpool? In what way is their arrangement different from West Ham's?

3. With all the media coverage at the time these players were signed, why did the Premier League not alert West Ham to all relevant rules and regulations relating to these signings back in September, especially to anything that West Ham might have missed? Do they not have a duty to inform their member clubs appropriately and fully on all the relavent administrative procedures?

West Ham have continued to play Tevez during the investigation and have taken legal advice that suggests they should fight this one, and therefore sound confident that they have a case.

But I worry that the West Ham board - old and new - in their willingness to get two world-class stars on the cheap may have been negligent!

And I worry even more that the Premier League, like the FA, who clearly are not completely familiar with their own rules and regulations (and rely on the likes of sneaky Wigan to go digging for obscure clauses and technicalites), have a proven track record of not assisting their member clubs with the administrative processes and are all too willing to punish heavily when something goes wrong. The strength of West Ham's case may be irrelevant when it comes to dealing with the pig-headed, teflon-coated worms at the Premier League and FA, who never take responsibility for their own part in such administrative mishaps (see Bury, AFC Wimbledon, etc.). They NEVER use a common-sense appraoch when dealing with ANY situation, especially when it comes to disciplinary matters.

After such an appalling season for West Ham, we deserve some answers. We pay enough every week to have earned them!

I feel most sorry for Matty Upson . . . joining a club to help keep them up for all the money in the world, a new investor providing cash, then he gets himself injured and his team now face charges of corruption . . .

. . . oh no wait a moment, I don't feel in the least bit sorry for him! The injury prone defender was happy to collect his wages for 10 months, then moan and winge in the Blues defence only to leave ungratefully 2 months later.

As a supporter of Bham City and beyond that Midlands football in general, I will be more than happy to see three London clubs go down and three midlands clubs go up, should it happen in May. That West Ham may or may not be deducted points is irrelevent if they cannot earn the points on the field of play anyway. There is too much of a London bias in the Prem at the moment and it does nothing for the balance of the league. Here's hoping that next season redresses that balance

Your gutless and useless team will do a Leeds next year if they play like they have this season. They are going back home to the championship 10th next seson is my prediction. There is predictited to be a mass exodus from u.park at the end of the season but I don't see anyone that's worth buying.

No one has suggested corruption yet. And innocent until proven guilty anyone?

The question I'm thinking of is...

If they have points deducted, will they be taken off immediately or next season? If WHam appeal (as they probably will) and it drags on until towards the end of the season, I can see the points being taken off next season - which will really b****r WHam up...

West Ham should be punished, if they are found guilty. If they have broken the rules in some way they should be A)Deducted points or B) Fined.

This comment is simplistic and doesn't take into account in what way they may or may not have broken the rules. If the club have clearly, deliberately, and wilfully flouted the rules ,then they the players and we supporters must take it on the chin and accept deduction of points (THIS SEASON , ONLY !!!) if necessary .If however ,after much time-consuming investigation and unravelling it is decided that they just may have encroached beyond some obscure boundary ( whose existence the authoritites seem only recently to be aware of) then a nominal fine and stiff future warning should be sufficient.
