Portsmouth v Chelsea

Premiership Portsmouth
comment on the article

Portsmouth and Chelsea meet in the Saturday early evening fixture, by which time Pompey will know if a return to the top six is possible and the defending champions will have discovered if the deficit behind pacesetters Manchester United has been increased to 12 points.

The south-coast side were a top three club in December, but failure to win seven of the last eight has seen them slip out of the places for European qualification.

However, it's a mark of Harry Redknapp's ability as a manager when you consider Portsmouth have 41 points on the board, as opposed to only 18 by this same stage last season.

Three points against the Blues would provide Redknapp with a very welcome, if possibly unexpected 60th birthday present, a day after the actual occasion.

How do you see this one going?

On second thoughts we will have to step up 3 more gears to stand any chance in the CL.

Whilst Roman would obviously like to win the league for the third time I feel he would love the CL and perhaps that is the real deal this season.I still think Chelsea are playing well below their best and the time might be just right to move into top form for the later stages of the CL.Two cups this year would be fantastic as long as one of them is won in Athens.

RA is looking like he is loosing interest been several months now without seeing him at a game and even snubed teh carling cup final and the celebratery meal. When he leaves chelski will fall down to where they came from!

It's a little annoying when people suggest Chelsea were a mid table "roll over"" side in pre roman times.Chelsea were a regular top six premiership outfit with some of the best and world class players in the league.Roman and his influence just pushed them up that extra mile.I expect the same thing will now happen at Liverpool and they will eventually be accused of buying their success.
