What a Performance.

Well done to the Mighty Reds, what a performance.

To go to spain and play the reigning european champions in thier own back yard with the whole world, apart from the Liverpool Fans of course, predicting a heavy defeat and come away with a win was sensational.

Liverpool were brilliant from the start. I could see that the team was focused before the kick off and new they were going to put in a performance. I must admit though when Barcelona scored early on, i did fear the worst. But fair play to the lads, they weathered the storm and came out the other end intact.

The first goal, for us, was a howler by their keeper but you have to say we made our own luck, and Bellamy had a similar chance earlier which he should have done better with.

The second half Liverpool were definately the better team, MoMo was immense. What a player, he was everywhere, tackling, intercepting and just generally breaking up any attack before it could get going.

I think Rijkard ran out of ideas and resorted to putting any attack minded player he had on the pitch to try and create something. This is what cost them in the end, because with so many attackers on, it was only a matter of time before we got a decent chance. Which was created by Bellamy and put away by Riise, ironic or what.

All in all another amazing night in europe for Liverpool.

One last thing, the ref last night was absolutely useless. He gave everthing to them. Everytime a barcelona player raised his hands looking for a foul he gave it, everytime the crowd ooohed he gave them a foul and in one instance he gave a yellow card just because the barcelona players thought he should. Weak Ref, just hope he isn't reffing at anfield.

All that said, its only half time so anything can still happen.( hoefully we can beat them back at anfield tooooooooooo)

barca lack the fight. and at anfield, where its the most daunting place in the world to go, they will simply get murdered. i cant see barca getting through because they wot want anything to do with the match, they will simply be intimidated out of it. i can see liverpool winning comfortably at anfield.

And if Liverpool welcome Barcelona, playing like they CAN, Barcelona will not go through.

Why do BBC use this quote from a complete and utter numpty.

Great team performance by Liverpool. Momo is incredible!!!! Have to give credit to Rafa for putting together the right team and the proper tactics. What about our new boy Arbeloa! Some muppets on this board were questioning Rafa's transfer deadline moves but Mr. Arbeloa did the job last night and contributed in the team effort to deny the likes of Ronaldinho, Messi, Deco etc. It's not over yet but we'll give em a proper Anfield welcome in March.
By the way we won in spite of the p*ss poor ref (i believe the fouls were double for Liverpool?!!)

Liverpool defied the odds one again and has proven the quality they have by beating the champs of europe. First of all i think the ref made some really stupid decisions which i dont think anyone would argue with.

Now liverpool know that they are 90 mintues in that match of making Barca former champs and god i would love that lol.
They played reasonable in the 1st half, although Barca domianted mostly, but in the 2nd half they came out with the correct attitude and would only settle for a win which they pulled off and also which many people thought was not possible. I know this because the moment barca scored i had many many texts on my phone saying this was it. Anyway, Liverpool dominated the 2nd half mostly and thanks 2 Riise we went 2-1 up and also i think Arbeloa and Mommo deserve a lot praise, i had to admit with gerrard on the right i was a bit shaky but mommo did very well and arbelo did the job well and had a good debut.
Now Liverpool know they are in the driving seat i hope they know that its not over yet, Barca are a great team everyonw knows that and liverpool think that playing barca in anfield is going 2 be a walk in the park then they are mistaken because barca can play very good so liverpool need to do what they do best and that is intimidate teams and give them a real tough time when they come to Anfield.
COME ON LIVERPOOL!!!!!!!!!!

Benitez's tactics were spot on. Although I think the team spirit of barca has gone down. They are nowhere the team they were last season but all credit to Liverpool. Do not get carried away as you know from benifica last season that its always possible for away sides to win 2-0 at anfield, and this is barcelona. I think it will be a 1-1 draw, but you never know barcelona as they hold the likes of ronaldinho, deco, messi and one major player who was really missed samuel eto'o.Good luck!

hate to admit but you were brilliant.
im sure you can take them at anfield too.
they've been having a bad time recently, Ronie and Eto's fall out, Deco's red card at the weekend and Puyol's diving everywhere.
Well played.

my previouse comments were not intended to bash liverpool, but bash the comments, it wasn't a fantastic game or performance from anybody, liverpool got a fantastic result however, my point about barcelona still have a chance to progress is because as a chelsea fan i would prefer to play barcelona in the final rather than liverpool. especially with the bad referring going on.

barcelona are still a world class side, no disputing that, they just didn't turn up the other night, that's what we all meant.
