Ranieri is back in management in his native Italy

Claudio Ranieri has been appointed coach of Italian Serie A side Parma.

The 55-year-old former Chelsea and Valencia coach replaces Stefano Pioli, who was sacked following Sunday's 3-0 league defeat at Roma.

Ranieri takes the reins with Parma second from bottom in the league and facing a relegation battle.

He returns to coach in his native Italy after an absence of nearly 10 years and is back in management after a spell as a television pundit.

Great news. The game needs more gentlemen like him. Best wishes, Claudio, I know you'll be a success.

Ranieri has likened a well selected football team to a finely tuned orchestra. Now that he's at Parma (famous for Parmesan cheese and Parma ham) will he go from musical conductor to master chef, dishing out orders to his sous-chefs and cooks? Or will he just be tinkering around the kitchen... I'm fed up with this analogy already...
Best of luck, Claudio.

Best of luck to Parma - been a fan for years and years, and since the parmalat scandal, the team no longer enjoys much financial help from its owners - all the same they did fantastic things last year to stay up and I hope Ranieri has the right recipe (urgh) to keep them up - would be a GREAT shame to see the little team go down after 2 decades of top class football.

Ranieri was and stil is a quality manager. He was an awesome manager for chelsea, and i was sad to see him leave. He had massive potential and i wish him the best for his new job!

i dont think ranieri should have been sacked as chelsea boss, i think he would have definitely won the title with chelsea in 2004-2005, think about this
2003-2004, league runners up, champions league semi finalists, so therefore the logical explanation is 2004-2005, league winners
