Jamie Murray claimed the first doubles title of his career with a 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 10-7 tie-break win in the final of the AT&T Challenger tournament.

The 20-year-old, the older brother of British number one Andy, was partnered by American Eric Butorac for the win over Rajeev Ram and Bobby Reynolds.

The pair did not drop a set on their way to the final, despite it being only their second tournament together.

The victory takes Murray up to 65th in the doubles world rankings.

This is just a challenger event and I am surprised the BBC did not make much of James Auckland’s run to an ATP final the week before, which saw Auckland take the British number 1 spot which he continues to hold.

Anyway, this is a good result, in the interview with Butorac after their semi-final match I believe, there was the suggestion that they will continue this partnership, which is excellent as Jamie needs a regular partner on tour. And considering they have reached an ATP final last year they have potential.

the bbc's coverage of the lower tennis is patchy at best (along with the lta's) recently bloomfield and baker reached challenger finals and got no mention either.

The BBC's online coverage of Tennis is disgusting!!!! Whoever wrote this article should be sacked, first of all its not Jamie Murrays 1st title, he's won a handful of "Challenger" events, yet the BBC seem to think its an ATP Tour event. I agree with Ashes (above), James Auckland made final of an ATP Tour event last week & didnt even get a mention. It seems if your names not "Murray" you've got no chance of getting a mention.

The BBC should be more balanced in their coverage- as they have made note of Jamie’s run to a challenger final, in which he won, so they should have made greater note of Auckland’s run to an ATP final a mere week before. Its important to take note of BOTH players especially as they are establishing themselves as decent doubles players.

And Murray/Delgado won the Como Challenger Sept. 2006 so this was not Jamie's first title

I agree with “Throw_Me_A_Bone” it seems almost as if the BBC have mistaken this for an ATP main-tour title.
