Chelsea v Middlesbrough

Premiership Chelsea

comment on the article

Chelsea will go into Saturday's home game intent on bagging a win to keep them within touching distance of Man Utd at the top of the table.

And the Blues have reason to be confident - they've won their last four League and Cup matches, lost just one of 19 in all competitions, and are unbeaten in 57 Premiership home games.

Middlesbrough will be keen to maintain their unbeaten record of 2007 though - and they beat Chelsea in their last two encounters.

As rumours persist of unrest at the Bridge, can Boro do the league double over Chelsea for the first time in 70 years?

bengstoj-
I think it will be a difficult run in for both teams as we close out the season.
Chelsea understand the challenge.
Its all down to Man U dropping points and its their title to lose.
Chelsea must keep winning... it is as simple as that...draws will not cut it and Jose can only hope you fall asleep at the wheel.
I believe we will win the FA or Carling but I dont see us winning the CL.
As for the title...I still think we have a realistic chance...but again its all down to us hanging on and you dropping points.
There is also the possibility that one of us could end up with nothing this season...
now there's a thought winkeye

you obviously weren't watching the match! he was great, lots of hunger and energy! had a shot cleared off the line, chased down balls and hassled people, a real handful. I'm sure JM's happy with his performance. He could do with a goal though, would improve his confidence no end!

his job is not to hassle people?? did you spend 30M for him to chase balls?? There are people in the team to do that. As for hunger and determination even Jon Stead shows it and he is not paid 130K a week.

He is a striker and at 30M I can even remember the last time he scored in the Premiership.

right, regardless of what we paid, he's here now and he's working for the team. He might only have 3 goals this season but he makes intelligent runs and has dragged defenders/provided passes to set up lots more goals. He's not playing like a £30m striker, but chelsea always pay atleast 2 or 3 times as much as a player is worth simply because they're chelsea. Also RA pushed so hard for this one I think there was an extra bit on his fee just to force the deal through. Regardless of what we paid, he's here now and he's working for the team.

Do chelsea fans really want to claim that man utd are on top because off injuries to chelsea players? Personnally I think you won the league in the past two years due to remarkable consistency not because we didn't have Heinze, Ole, RVN, Keane, Saha, and most importantly Scholes for most parts of those seasons. The reason why the big clubs win titles over small clubs is the depth of their squads. If you can't overcome that, then you don't deserve the title. I absolutely respect chelseas last two titles and will never blame it on injuries to utd's key players. Maybe chelsea fans should show some class.
One telling stat that is not worth debating is the fact that SAF has been gaining ground on JM since he arrived. In 04/05 u were 18pts clear, it reduced to 8pts in 05/06 season. I am not at all surprised that utd are on top now. If JM is still around next season, be rest assured that the gap will be at least 10pts by the end. That's how well SAF has closed the gap.

One praise I have for chelsea and JM is that of raising the bar in the EPL. To think that this is man utd's best season ever in the EPL given what we have already achieved (8titles) says much abt the level at the moment. Thank u JM for bringing the best out of our players.

if chelsea fans wanted a very lively and workhorse-like striker, they should have bought Benjani of portsmouth instead of sheva. He has been disappointing but fans should back him not defend him. Since when will one of europe's most prolific strikers not be judged by goals?

What are you all going on about? This title race is far from over! For a start We still have United at the bridge. Both teams will drop points, it's just a matter of who drops, more. Any Chelsea fan who thinks it's already over, I have one thing to say to you! Go back to supporting Man United glory boy!!!
