Steve Maclaren must be removed from office and charged with bringing the game of Association Football into disripute. With this clown in charge there will be no summer adventure in 2008 as we will not qualify.Too many players playing out of position. No team structure,or apparent plan.Inability to pick or perhaps use untested players or players playing consistently well for the u21's.No we still pick some of the over payed prima donnas who let you down time and time again.
Remove the players pool, these money grabbers already earn enough. No payment for playing for England. If they don't like it tough, find players who will.No more "red" Neville acting as shop steward too.
This has to stop.Absolutely dreadful performance.
Maclaren must go now.He is the worst manager in England History.

"rooney was injured! the whole team was terrible!!"

Think that was the whole point - Rooney was terrible BECAUSE he was injured. Which shows the folly of rushing players back before they are ready. To be fair of course Rooney (and Beckham before him) would have been itching to come back, it was the World Cup after all! But someone (and as Sven was the manager the responsibility did ultimately fall on him) should have said "Look, you're not fit. You can't play. Sorry, its heartbreaking but facts is facts" - and then said something similar to the rest of us.

Incidentally, didn't Beckham break his metatarsal in the second leg of a European tie? After he had been injured in the first leg and it was touch and go whether to play him in the second leg?

spoogie- you are right, but can you imagine Sven standing up to them? It was clear he did not command them like a Ramsey would have done , or a Clough,,he was to interested in staying friends so he could go an visit them and have stay in touch with the In people when he was out.

All due respect he has kept his shiny dome down since walking out before he was fired...

More to the point standing up to the fans and the press as well: had Beckham been left out of the 2002 World Cup and England gone on to do badly - doesn't take Einstein to guess what the reaction would have been.

That's the difference with the likes of Ramsey and Clough, they did what THEY thought was the right thing to do. (In Ramsey's case there was certainly an instance where it didn't work out, against West Germany in 1970, but at least he was prepared to take that risk)

the most important international match of our time and steve 'ginger' maclaren plays for a draw! why? He managed a medioca club team and did nothing, so why was he appointed in the first place? i'm absolutley devastated, what is the nation going to do next summer? we can't go abroad for a holiday for fear of ridcule from other qualifying nations. Lap land it is i think, or the middle of the dessert, with no tv's! Get him out!

The problem is that we praise mediocrity and It appears that each time we are stuck we bring back dropped players for that quick fix who are passed their sell by date
I say...Stuart Pearce for Manager and bring on the U21 Team

Why not just upgrade the U21 side to the full england side, players, coach, manager and all? They show more passion and commitment that anyone included in the England setup (previous).

Fantastic, he's gone!

I don't believe it!

Just woke up and got the great news, it was worth missing the Euro finals for that and if we get to play the Scots and the Irish instead with Jose running the show I'll be a happy man.

cause pearce is even more lightwieght than MAC.

i really fear pearce being offered the job in favor of a more competant but contraersial choice like 'arry.
