The takeover

Premiership Liverpool

comment on the article

As a devout LFC fan, I must say that I am very annoyed, nearly said angry but that's taking it a bit far, that the DIC has pulled out of the takeover bid. Lets just hope that Mr Parry has not made a mess of this and that the the Gillett bid has the best interests of the club at heart. If this is purely motivated by money then I very much hope everyone is remembering the rich tradition of the club at the same time! I have to say I'm more shocked than anything else because it seemed as though it was a case of when, not if, and now the uncertainty will no doubt arise again. Lets just hope that the interests of the club have not been compromised, even though some more money would be nice to boost the squad for a title bid next season. (If we don't win it this season of course; still hoping!)

I don't really know that much about the two American boys and even though I work with Americans I haven't heard of either of the two teams they own. However, living in UAE, I have of course heard of Sheikh Mohammed. This man is obsessed with success, just look at his racing stables (Godolphin) the fact that his Emirate (Dubai) with less oil than its neighbours completely eclipses them on the world stage. Sure, his initial bid may be less than the Gillet-Hicks deal but he (Sheikh Mohammed and DIC)can bring far, far more to the table than G-H could ever even imagine and probably provide investment beyond the club and into the City of Liverpool too... JLA airport is expanding and, oh yes, Sheikh Mohammed owns Emirates airlines... think about it David Moores !!

I wouldn't worry Scousers.

I hear Cilla Black is in deep talks with her fella and he's thinking about buying your club and turning it into a feeder for his ever improving Reading side.

KNOCK, KNOCK – 168 HOURS TO SAVE LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB!!!
Last week we were cruising along at altitude then along come DIC and shoot our tail off and now we are listening to Cowboy Control while diving into an uncontrollable tailspin, right? DEAD WRONG!!! When did the board of LFC last consult the fans of LFC over our football clubs future? At the moment the turn indicator only goes on after the manoeuvre, we are completely at a loss for any explanation. The scenario at present is that the board jumps into bed with the Cowboys, we the supporters donate extravagant sums which are then siphoned off to support the US home teams namely Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. It can’t happen I hear you cry, ‘we’ve got a written agreement.’ Wake up, so did Chamberlain & Stalin but Mr Hitler did as he pleased, and so does every other unscrupulous organisation who has the might!
HEADS UP PARRY AND MOORES, LISTEN TO THIS, LISTEN; we have the most phenomenal supporters in the world! We are not armchair fair-weather fans. Shankly galvanised LFC in the 60’s when LFC was in the old 2nd division. He recognised the unique potential of true fans and forged LFC into what you see today. No other supporters would have taken over Rome, Paris or Istanbul as we saw recently. It was half time in Istanbul and we were 3-0 down. Those supporters arose as one, shook the life out of the Italian supporters, they galvanised the team as Shankly new they would and we stuffed the opposition. Over one million supporters greeted the team in the city. WELL IT’S HALF TIME NOW! Before we get Blazing Saddles & Co. remember we can harness the financial might of our supporters. It’s been done before and is highly successful. We go ahead with an 80,000 seated stadium and ask that fans donate a one off £5,000 each, generating £400 Million, (problems maybe, but certainly ‘do-able’) OR, as we have 28 MILLION REGISTERED fans with LFC, not even counting those who are not registered, we ask that they donate say £100 each. And before you say that’s a lot of money remember you will pay far more personally than that for the debt of the Cowboys, The sum raised;- £2.8 billion. I SAY AGAIN;- 2.8 BILLION POUNDS STERLING.
There’s no need to prostitute our club to foreign control. This way the LFC fans keep ownership without debt. Success breeds success. Before you know it big companies will come in for commercial rights that will be dictated by LFC, not as now by going cap in hand to the nearest ranch!!! No other club is in this unique position right now; PARRY & MOORES don’t fudge this. There’s millions of us at LFC. As the Beatles said, ‘we can work it out.’

"I'm sure the new takeover will mean more money for transfers (not least because they've absorbed our debt),

WHAT BARE FACED UTTER HYPOCRITICAL BULLS-IT.

You could not make this up."

Excuse me? How is it hypocritical? Having more money for transfers (which all the papers have confirmed today, so it's not BS either)is very different from having limitless money for transfers. Abramovich has made Chelsea the Veruca Salt of world football.

Yes, we could discuss to within the nearest few million of what are the actual figures of supporters currently registered with LFC. But at the moment that is a bit irrelevant considering the current situation and time frame for decision making.

Apart from the stats,WHAT ABOUT THE CONCEPT? Knock my comments by all means but please offer a plausible solution. We may not be able to accomplish the perfect takeover but please, there has to be something better on offer than this debacle!

I first want to give a little background on myself. I am an American living in Dallas texas. I am a huge Liverpool fan since my roommate turned me onto them. I have always followed soccer but its sometimes hard here in the states, it has gotten to the point where I curse the TV when I dont get my Saturday Liverpool games. I wanted to post here to help anyone who may not be familiar with Tom Hicks. As stated before I live in Texas, where I live is only 15 minutes from the Texas Rangers (Hicks baseball team). I have nothing but postives to speak on his behalf. The rangers are one of the best run organizations in MLB, it is also one of the most respected. Hicks has made it a priority to give back to the fans and to make sure the fans have the best experience while at the venue. He took the idea of having a new stadium to a reality when he took over the organization. Since then the Dallas Cowboys have followed lead in building there new stadium closer to the area Hick's has worked hard to create. Something exiciting about Hick's is he will go after a big piece of the puzzle, he will negoitate a big deal to bring a top name to LFC which will not only push us back to the top but will mesh well with team chemistry. In the end, it is about money and investment, it does'nt matter if there American or from another country the goal will always be the same. In the scheme of sports investment who wouldnt want to take over a club of this tradition. As a fan of Liverpool I am %100 behind him and from experience I know he will do whats best for the franchise and the fans, keeping in mind the tradition of LFC. I look forward to gathering more of us in Texas to support Liverpool in hopes of establishing a huge fan base here, and I am looking forward to my first trip to Anfield.

There may have been something hidden in DIC bid that we never heard, maybe moores panicked because out of intinct felt something was not quite right. Gillet sounded, how shall we put it more friendly?

Yes he is such a nice man........ Ask the thousands of Geordies he sacked with no notice at the Tyneside firm he was Chairman at.

He promised compensation for all, not a penny has been paid and he has not been seen since.

This was in 2002 !!

No wonder he did not show at last weeks defeat to Newcastle.
