Bale - where will he end up?

Premiership Southampton
comment on the article
Defender Bale is Wales' youngest senior international player

Man Utd boss Alex Ferguson has come out and said that he believes Spurs are the favourites to sign Southampton's Gareth Bale:

"Southampton said no to us because they are looking for more money, which they have every right to do," he said.

"I am not exactly sure what Tottenham have offered but they have offered more and that puts them in pole position."

Most Premiership clubs would probably want him on their staff, so who do you think will get him?

Will a deal be done before the end of January or will he be at St Mary's until the summer?

Would he stay if the Saints got promoted?

what nonsense Riise 'n' Shine! if you look at spurs' record of developing young talent, particularly british talent, it speaks for itself. lets not forget spurs is a british club with a british ethos unlike arsenal, chelsea and liverpool. spurs have developed many young players, all of which i'm not going to; nor need to mention here.

I feel it is probably best for Bale to go to a team like Tottenham or Newcastle as this will aid his developement to no end. As potential goes Bale has more of it than Giggs had!*

But lets not beat around the bush, the boy and his agent are obviously hoping for the bigger deal - Machester United, where he will also be tutored by the man he will most likely replace. Bale will not go to Man Utd as a Left Back, his is going there to replace Giggs on the wing... and he will excel at it.

* Everyone saw the potential of Giggs, and it was undoubted. Nobody has really seen the potential of Gareth Bale because he is not in the Premierhsip and he does not play for Man Utd.... and all of a sudden because Man Utd are interested the news has caught up... considering he plays two roles during every game (left back and left wing at the exact same time) he is probably the best "non-striker" propsect the British Isles has created in over 30 years!

I hope he comes to United, but he would getter better experiance at spurs. I wouldn't like to see him come to united and waste his potential by sitting on the bench.

it would be nice to see him at united, perhaps he could get games if heinze leaves in the summer. but it would be better for him to stay at st marys. the gaffer probably would want him to stay at the saints ; look what happened with walcott.. if he stayed at southampton he would be getting games regularly, but at arsenal hes got a lots of great players in front of him on the pecking order.

I think he'll end up at Utd but not in Jan if it means they have to pay over the odds. If Spurs have any chance of getting him, they'll have to pay silly money in the next couple of days. If he's still a saints player by Thurs, then I reckon Utd will sign him for 6-8m in summer. I'm not a Utd fan but I reckon that if he's got the chance to sign for Utd, he ain't gonna be that keen on a move to Spurs.

I think with the success that Fergie has got with bringing on new young players his ideal choice would be United. Just look at Scholes, Giggs, Neville etc
