I have been following England pretty much all of my life and have seen England throughout the mid 90's to now.
I have lived through the ashes on hope that we would put in a great performance somewhere.
But I have to ask the question..Is this the worst time for you as an England fan..Can anyone remember an England team that has been so humiliated.

Flintoff clearly hasn't got it to be a captain, it seems that we have another Botham in Flintoff, can't handle captaincy.
Flintoff has lost 9 out of 10 games.

Fletcher is a stubborn leader.

I have and always will support and follow the England cricket team but I just can't see any positives out of this.

Maybe the boys can surprise us all and win the world cup........................................maybe not.

P.S. Marcus Trescothick - Please Please Please come back for the World cup!

I think the main difference is that England tend to sit back after a victory, and Australians go out as hard as they can regardless of previous results. They will not be getting MBE's or anthing else, but more importantly will be respected as good blokes giving all that they can because they know what an honour it is to wear the 'baggy green' cap and also know how many other good'uns wait in the wings! For what it's worth, most Australians are NOT delighted to see England reduced to their present state and wish you well. We like Freddie and Monty is a great hit

We should stop complaining Duncan fletcher for all that poor performances of england, he is the same coach when england won ashes! and almost the same players (except simons, vaughan) but you can't have excuses like this in international cricket, i would say England players were TOO RELAX after ashes win, i saw them losing series in pakistan with smile on their faces and then india and then srilanka...i don't know what they were thinking, but they kept losing confidence and got to this stage.

i know it was duncan fletcher who decided not to play m panesar for first two ashes test but don't forget it was the 2nd innings batting that gifted australia win.

This is a bad time to be an england cricket fan but i have to say that i am not suprised that this tour has turned out the way it has.

We deservedly won the ashes in '05, but lets not forget that if McGrath had not trod on a rugby ball, or if warne had held a slip catch off pietersen in the last test we probably would not have done.

The media have then spent 12 months building this england team into the best ever, along with everyone being given mbe's, it would appear that the team have started to believe the hype.

If we are honest, the team that went to australia lacked depth, once trescothic went home, we were always going to struggle. We pinned our hopes on a brand new opener, a brand new spinner and flintoff to do everything.

We must learn lessons from this tour, no kneejerk reactions, no sackings. Get the squad together and focus on improvement, now who has done that in the past?

Oh yeah, australia after the '05 ashes.

The team didn't pin their hopes on a brand new spinner, the series was lost by the time Monty arrived in the line-up, but I agree that Flintoff id overly depended on in both forms of the game. He will be very happy to see KP back in the team.

Laurasdad,

"Tremlett is an enigma - how can someone so perfectly built for fast bowling actually bowl so slowly?"

Just because someone is tall, doesn't mean they should bowl 90mph+. You show your lack of understanding of what makes a good seam bowler with such comments. Accuracy, not pace is what actually counts. All those devastating W.I. quicks, Garner, Marshal, Holding, Walsh, Ambrose were as accurate as McGrath, and that's why they took wickets. Their devastating pace was just a bonus.

Stick with Tremlett he looks promising (not an enigma though), get rid of Nixon (he’s a dead set joke) and put back Read, get rid of Collingwood (sorry don't rate him you must have someone better, Shah perhaps).

Oh and messi “….I'd sooner drop Bradman c.1930 than Bell.” Don’t strain your credibility too much mate. I know that according to Messi only maybe 1 current Aus player would make a world 11, but you’re pushing it too far even mentioning the Dons’ name in the same sentence as any English cricketer of the last 60 years let alone Bell.

Everyone should just LEAVE ENGLAND ALONE!!
I think it's a fantastic achievement in itself to have gone from world-beaters in 2005 to possibly the worst side ever to have played international cricket.

The problem with englands recent performences, (very poor) is it is creating a very boring experience for those of us who were born in australia who stay up at night hoping for a close game when australia have england at 70 for 5 and all out for 110, a game such as the last game england had against the kiwis was good and was a close match in the end although it didnt look like it would be at the start. Englands problem is with the coach the main issue is with the fact they lost the ashes 5-0 and are playing the worlds best which will once again be confirmed in this years world cup, does anyone remember the last one? australia won and australia A made it very close to the final. Many of those Aus A boys are now in the Aus side that is beating england over and over again. ive forgotten my point in this post now ill write it properly when i remember it.

It is quite a talent to go from very good to piss poor, but I am afraid that even there the Aussies have done better. You have never had a captain weeping in a press conference, see, we even fall apart better than you.
