Adelanwa (U7237982) posted Jan 25, 2007 I am surprised the match lasted only 90mins. We need to ask why Roddick brings out the best in Federer. Roddick seems to just collapse as soon the person on the other side of the net is Federer. Roger, c'mon have some pity on A-Rod......next time let him win a set at least........plzzzzzz

Blackeeto (U7224432) posted Jan 25, 2007 Excellent performance by Federer! Weighing up his possible Final opponent... I have been looking at Federers record against Haas and to be fair to Tommy, at his best, could worry Federer a little. I've just got a weird feeling about Haas all of a sudden and he has winning record against Federer in Australia. His only Australian loss to Federer was a 5 setter last year at this very championship. Prior to this Haas beat Federer last year in AAMI Classic Kooyong 2006.Overall Haas is 2 -7 Head to Head with Federer but he has been known to take the odd set or push to tie breaks which is no mean feat. 40-1+ with Betfair is a little tempting especially as those odds would shrink to at least 16/1 if he gets past Gonzales and a split stake on Federer would then mean a major profit if the impossible happened and a break even scenario if Federer wins. I know it appears a big imponderable but Haas got past both Davydenko and Nalbandian who are ranked higher. If Haas brings his 'A' game we could be in for an unexpected treat in the Final. A Gonzales Federer would be very one sided as the head to head shows 9 - 0 and memories of ATP Madrid are still so so clear

Although Federer was excellent today, if Andy had played his own game from the back of the court, the score would have been closer and the Fed express would not have looked so invincible.

dreamred (U7233708) posted Jan 25, 2007 Obviously I’m in minority that starting to find it boring to watch Federer dominate (or people in generally dominate their chosen sport) and not seeing that anyone can really pose a threat in the near future. He plays great tennis and of course it’s a privilege to watch someone like him play. But I enjoy matches where things aren’t very one sided and when you can’t really say who will win which he doesn’t seem to play too often. Of course he does lose from time to time and he is yet to be the king of clay, but that is probably only a matter of time since there is only one guy standing in the way of that at the moment.

Im_partial (U5448245) posted Jan 25, 2007 That match was a tennis clinic. Fantastic display by Federer, who is truly a delight to watch. The second set was an outstanding display of shot making. 7 GS finals in a row, 35 match winning streak. What more can one say? He'll surely take the final, and it will be well deserved.

PimBo (U1657321) posted Jan 26, 2007 Just seen the second semi, on holiday in Chile btw. What a display by Gonzalez. All this talk about Nadal being the clear number 2 and Murray and Gasquet being potential challengers to the great Federer with hardly anyone mentioning the Chilean... It makes me wonder whether those contributors actually watch tennis. So extreme and onesided, these comments, still apart from the blasphemous nature of a number.
