Canadiancharles (U2983528) posted Jan 24, 2007 Someone was asking how much WH paid for Neill. I seem to have read somewhere it was 2m. I remember doing some adding at the time and concluded that Curbs has spent 9m. so far which, if his reported war chest is correct, still leaves him enough to buy one or two top flight players if he chooses or if they are available. This, I suspect is one reason why several poster's speculated that the 10m. bid for Bale might have come from WH and not MU or Spurs, although I think now it's more likely that they will up their bid for Upson or maybe someone we haven't even thought of will pop up. Don't forget Neill's words, "If you saw WH's shopping list it wwould blow you away.

He can say what he likes about volcanos and cold things but I have always supported Blackburn and if I had the cloice of going to the club that I have always supported or to another team I would choose Blackburn. If you are honest with yourself I think you would too.

strogbow1 (U6979299) posted Jan 27, 2007 I cant understand why neill didnt go to liverpool, where he would be guranteed trophys maybe he was scared of the competition for places. He said he wanted first team football which he already had at rovers, maybe not the most glamourous team in the world. Then hes says hes joining a team with great tradition, of what being a yo-yo team. Which ever club he stayed at or went to hes going to end up a very wealthy man. But when hes retired and talks about the old days , he wont have to many sucessess to talk about.

AkiLunn (U7264221) posted Jan 27, 2007 I know Lucas well. I haven't seen him play much for Blackburn but I have seen him for the Aussies. He's the kind of player we need and I like to see that we have a bigger squad.

Southern Rover (U6688794) posted Jan 27, 2007 Lucas Neill is a money grabbing idiot. Decent, consistent, passionate player but we'll take the cash and have a giggle when he's applying his trade in the championship.

Theanfieldiron (U7241613) posted Jan 28, 2007 Is it true he has a clause in his contract to be sold at the end of the season if the hammers go down? Parry and Benitez called him a liar in everything but word, Parry saying he was sitting next to Rafa while Neill was at the other end of a phone for 2 hours, and to say that he would only have warmed the bench at Anfield, while probably true for a player of his limited ability, surely he would think himself able to displace Finnan or else what do we have here, an Australian sportsman with no self-confidence, surely not, the world as we know it has ended.
