The aftermath

Premiership Manchester United
comment on the article

A weekend that was dubbed the Grand Slam of all weeekends by our favourite sports channel has now come and gone and i think its time to do the end analysis after the dust has settled

Chelsea lost to liverpool

Man Utd lost to Arsenal

Predictable?

NO! But given home advantage the bookies favoured the home sides and the home sides did not let them down!

So what does this mean for the top 4?

Chelsea - they clearly must be rueing an opportunity squandered to go 3 behind man utd

Man Utd - squandered a third opportunity to put the title to bed(newcastle & west ham spring to mind)

Arsenal - unlikely but good home win, fought till the end and irrespective of whether they deserved to win the game or not, they came from behind to beat a very very good man utd side! Any team that can do that is a good side, if you can also do the double over man utd, you probably will always finish in the top half of the table (blackburn for example last season). Pity van Persie is now out for the season, a shame!

Liverpool - excellent win, made chelsea look like a sunday league team. Everyone is harping on about chelseas defence, so what has happened to their attack? They never looked like scoring and it goes without saying that if lampard and Drogba dont make the score sheet, probably no one else will! And now they have Arjen Robben back on the treatement table!

So where does this leave us?

Chelsea now have to worry about those behind as well as Man Utd. Can Chelsea lose 2nd spot? Yes! Will they? Probably! On current form that is!

Can Man Utd win the title? Yes! Will they? I think so! 12 wins (7 at OT)and pick any 5 away fixtures plus the added luxury of man utd not needing to win at Anfield or SB. 2 defeats is not the end of the world! If we play like we did yesterday, Spurs, everton, city , pompey & fulham wont get back into the game! Arsenal are of a different class all together! But all of this is assuming Chelsea win all 14. Unlikely, Discuss

it's funny everytime i remember when Drogba said he is better than Henry! what arrogant he is, he is no where near Henry's level. Henry has the ability to score, set up and take on players while Drogba can only score.

>>he was signed in the way Diouf was after the 2002 WC

the Diouf (and Diao) deals were a forgone conclusion prior to the world cup.

Precisely, GS said no thanks!!

So whoever said he was world class or an established star before is wrong.

And oh yeah, I remember Souness on the telly trying to explain that George Weah's cousin thing - didn't he nearly score though!!!

Drogba was highly rated in France. Hence the 24m pound valuation

Not even Chelsea are stupid enough to buy a striker who'd only score a single goal.

Drogba is one of the leagues leading scorers.
Sheva has probably shot his bolt and Chelsea was seen coming.
Ballack is just too lazy.

We weren't disputing he wasn't rated in France, it was the fact that he wasn't a world star at this point.

But yes you are right, he got about 20 goals in his final season plus french player of the season.

...and he is the key player of a marvellous Ivory Coast team! One of my favourites in the WC, although unlucky to compete with Argentina and Holland.

Chelsea are already in one final. FIght for all the competitions. AND had a goalkeeper/defender crisis.Still they are second in the league and, hadn't it been that biased refereeing against the Spurs, it would be only 3 points away from Man U. Not bad and still a lot to come.
