Manchester City 0 - 3 Blackburn Rovers

Morten Gamst Pedersen scored twice as Blackburn moved above Manchester City into 10th in the Premiership table.

David Bentley cleared off the line for Rovers before Pedersen superbly headed home a cross from the Rovers' winger.

Pedersen scored a brilliant free-kick, while Rovers keeper Brad Friedel made two good saves from Darius Vassell.

Blackburn, who lost defender Andre Ooijer to a serious looking ankle injury, scored their third through Matt Derbyshire's finish from a tight angle.

In fact, in all my comments, the one thing I've not said is that I do wish Andre Ooijer a quick recovery.

The incident happened at the far end from me, and I didn't see it properly, but it looked very nasty. From the reaction of the players on both teams, it was clear that something very bad had happened.

As much as I'm not a Blackburn fan, I don't wish a serious injury on anyone, so I hope he's back and fit again as soon as possible.

City were appalling in the first half. The worst display i have seen since the Wigan debacle. Maybe 3-0 flattered Blackburn but on that first half performance we still need to be grateful that Wigan are in freefall and that West Ham are still 10 points behind us.

I have to agree with Ianash I'm totally a rovers fan but it was a penalty and im a firm beliver that the refs and the officals are spoiling the game its time to bring in the telly all I will say is its about time we started getting the decisions. any game is a big game and could be the diferance in staying safe or being religated not enough is being done to punish the refs and officals.

I must say I agree too.

Video technology is a must. I can never help but feel that the top 4 get too many favourable decisions (sic. Roy Carroll-Pedro Mendes), while the teams at the bottom get fewer.

And there must be teams who have nearly been relegated on a good goal that wasn't given or having conceded a goal which should clearly have been ruled out.

So your MOM was Friedel and you reckon we didn't deserve something out of the game?
Surely is is difficult to have both and not play well. That is like saying the worse player was the forward even though he scored a hat-trick. I though the first half was quite even and no one did enough to lead, despite the MGP goal (thought Trabelsi was caught for that one). Second half we seemed to create more chances but couldn't convert.
I think the incident with the Blackburn injury was the confusion with the ref. As far as I could see the player had limped off the pitch and the ref called for the stretcher, now why he had to stop play I have no idea? He was off the pitch and not interfearing with play, so they would have been a player down for a couple of mins, what happens next do we stop the game for all injuries.

To be fair scottycam, with the serverity of the injury it would have been dangerous to take the corner while Ooijer was there.

I agree, but there aren't rules for it I don't think. We are told that refs aren't supposed to think by themselves, but to adhere to the regulations as set out. However there are instances where the refs decidid that they will act on their own accord. I can appreciate it from an injury point of view. But why that specific injury and why not all injuries? Any time a player is off the pitch getting sorted there is always the possibiluity that the ball could strike them. Mind you after the Pen we didn't get (Again) I wouldn't expect the ref to do anything in our favour.

I still think there's a difference between Ooijer's injury and most others. If the player hobbles off with most others play will continue. It's the fact that play was at that end and if the ball struck him from a shot or if the players ended up falling on him, it could effectively end his career.

And despite being an opposition player, I think the referee made the right call in this instance. If that was a City play with such a bad injury, I'd be bloody annoyed if the referee played on.

I think you'll find it was because savage was jumping up and down on the touch line calling for assistance because he could see the injury and he told the ref. The reason that they are not ment to stop the game is because of these so called big teams whose players fall over scream blue murder and then return after 5 mins wasted play. but I think they are allowed to use thier own judgement and lets say thank god for that.
