Just heard Tommy Burns has resigned from the Scotland set up. What ever slim chance we had of qualification next year is now out the window! It is disgraceful the SFA would not even consider him for the job!! They have a lot to answer for!

"Burns was appointed to help Bertie and give him guidance and settle him into the role as manager..... Great job Burns."

Which part of that did he not fulfill? The final team selection, tactics and any during game changes were all down to Berti. Are you suggesting that it was Tommy's guidance that ruined Scotland? I don't think he had that great an influence in it. And I don't think the SFA did either -- hence why he survived the cull! - Why do you think he was kept on? Why do you think Walter was keen to work with him?

If "he is not manager material and we are better off without him." Then why the hell is McLeish your choice?? Not much separate both of them in terms of ability! When it comes to Scotland I don't care if it's a Celtic Man or a Rangers Man - or a Man of any club that's in charge as long as it's someone who has Scotland in his blood and knows what it means to the tartan army to win! (or gallantly lose as is more the case)

Walter, Ally and Tommy have all jumped ship before reality sets in.
Few of the players Berti and the aforementioned had at their disposal are anywhere near international class.
Has our super striker Kenny Miller retired or what

Can the journalist who wrote this article please learn to use our language properly?

I quote:
"Tommy Burns has resigned from his position as Scotland assistant manager after not yet being approached about being Walter Smith's successor."

My 7 year old could do better.

Tommy will be a loss to Scotland but a gain to Celtic. He's not like Smith who was manager and turned his back on us. Tommy has been assistant under 2 managers its about time he was given his chance. The SFA have made another big mistake, please not McCleash he can't even get a club of Rangers stature playing well.

Tommy twists Tommy turns Tommy Burns !

Thankfully Tommy is now back only in the place he is truly welcome. Clearly the SFA have decided the Rangers connection is the best one in our wee parochial land.

FAO Lost Prophet. McCoist was more "envolved" in the Scotland set-up? Lost Thumbs more like, you illiterate bozo! Why not try evolving from the tree you dwell in? Tommy Burns can't be accused of deserting his country like Wally Smith, his country deserted him! If it's mediocrity and bland football yer after, then big Eck should fill Smith's shoes perfectly!

The half-wits at the SFA should hang their collective head's in shame!!... Tam Burns has given his all (and more!..) to the Scotland cause, and this is how they repay him! Have they forgotten about the success this man had in his playing career, and in his managerial partnership with Billy Stark?.. As for Big Eck.. I don't think he can cut it as a national team boss.. Prove me wrong, Eck!!..
