Man City win two great victories

Premiership Manchester City

What a night with two great victories for City.

Firstly, we won an exciting Cup battle against Sheffield Wednesday. While performances from our players were mixed Wednesday fought throughout and we were never able to relax as they posed a constant threat ( credit to them ). For us Distin was average while Dunne was brilliant,Dabo and Sinclair went missing at times while Ireland and Barton ( Man of the Match ) were outstanding,Corradi ( and Samaras ) were disappointing while credit to Vassell ( at times frustrating, great pace but lacking close control) for perserverance and a great winning goal, Weaver was superb ( continuing his good run of form,no goalie would have had a chance with Wednesday's goal ).Sets us up well for two home games in the Premiership and a 4th round to look forward to.

Secondly, brilliant to hear Joey following up a great performance with his committment to the club. Moyes and Everton were within their rights to express an interest in signing him, and dispite Joey's agent trying to unsettle him Joey said

"I have stated on record I don't want to leave.

"I am totally settled. We are going in the right direction and I have got a manager who believes in me."

That is great news for the club, the fans, SP, and for Joey himself. It shows a level of maturity and can only be good for all concerned and particularly for Joey's career at City and his England future.

So, all round a great night to be a Blue.
CTID.

Yeah Onouha will come back in defence-why was he missing yesterday again? Richards back into midfield to replace Barton. Ireland and Barton were both quality last night, i still reamin a little worried about Dabo though and Hamann is constantly injured, Steve Sidwell in the summer please Psycho!! We will probably draw against Blackburn because they are really hard to beat im going for a 1-1 Corradi and Nonda but i will take that its another point. We have to beat the Saints though i dont want a replay at St marys at all.

It will be tough against Blackburn especially without Barton. They have been going well(except for the Arsenal game last week). We haven't beaten them much recently so hopefully we are due a win on Saturday. Some tough games coming up so 3 points would be nice and as bluebarra says it would surely kill off any lingering relegation fears.

Bluebrock

There must be something in the air but I don't have any lingering relegation fears, only eyes for the UEFA Cup place and a long Cup run ( maybe even a final at last ).

40+ years supporting city has left me looking up in hope while keeping a wary eye on the drop, until maths say we cant go down will still worry and when the math says we cant go down will look for irregularity that would send us down anyway. Then start dreaming of making the top 4 and get totally and uterly carried away.....in a large jacket....but hey I still have the dreams

40+ years of supporting City and I still have not given up the hope that we can put our yoyo days behind us once and for all, although I fully understand your doubts as only City could inflict such pain on its most loyal fans.

i'm an everton fan, and would love barton to play for us. but im actually delighted to see a bit of loyalty in the game. fair play to him, it makes a nice difference to see a player who knows he can make the england team without having to go and play for one of the so-called big 4. Shaun Wright Phillips, Nick Barmby, Theo Walcott, Peter Crouch...i could go on!

Good to see that Barton's showing some loyalty and has publicly contradicted his agent's comments. If I were him I'd sack the agent and find a new one. McKay appears only to want whatever fee or comission he'd receive if the lad was sold. Disgraceful.

I think City will have another successful campaign in the FA Cup, we went through alot of replays but we got the job done. I had full confidence in Barton staying as in all honesty he announced his commitment to the club after changing his mind about his transfer.

Would he have made the same decision if it was man utd, chelsea or arsenal....I dont think so and it is a matter of time (seemingly with his form) until one of these clubs comes in.

It probable is only a matter of time before one of the "big 4" come in for Joey but it will take a hell of a lot more than 5.5 million to prise him away from City.
