Special case??Liverpool by MogsUtd (U5142728) 16 January 2007 Can someone please explain to me why Liverpool think they have a special case for signing Mascherano? Having signed for West Ham, surely the fact that he's not settled and not been able to "cut it" in the Premiership so far does not mean the rules can be broken to suit him. That said, he's obviously a very good player and needs to get away. However, he should be made to wait to the end of the season. Latest 10 commentsRead members' comments or add your own

mattydalton (U4386926) posted Jan 18, 2007 I think that, in this case, special dispensation should be allowed. I am a Liverpool fan, but this is not the reason I believe so. The rule was created to protect clubs from being held to ransom by players who decide they are unhappy within a few weeks and try and engineer a move elsewhere. In this case the club (West Ham) are happy to let him leave and have little or no intention of playing him again. I think the rule is a bit too "black and white" in a, normally, very "grey" FIFA world...
