Manchester City's Paul Dickov will be sidelined for up to eight weeks because of a broken toe.

The veteran striker, 34, has been troubled by a nagging toe injury, which requires surgery, and has figured in only three matches over the last month.

In total, he has made 17 appearances this season but has yet to score.

City manager Stuart Pearce confirmed: "Paul has a problem with his toe and it is to do with what appears to be a floating bone."

He hasnt exactly been top class this season though lets be fair and without him in the frame it might give Daniel Sturridge a chance from the bench in coming matches which he probably deserves after all of his goals in the reserves!!! CTID

I'm not too distraught by the news. Dickov is not premiership class. He can be a useful sub to throw on, but he has never been a prolific scorer. Let's give Sturridge a chance tomorrow!

No great loss, Dickov has been a disappointment this season, lets remember his first spell at City, thank him and let him go to make way for the likes of Sturridge or Miller a chance.
