In my opinion there should be no action taken against Blues whatsoever.
It is common amongst premiership clubs to relay pitches in mid season so why shouldn't Blues do the same, the company who were relaying ours relayed Chelsea’s in four days last season, so it’s not unprecedented and have also done Ipswich’s too this season. The pitch was originally booked for relaying before Christmas between 16 - 23 December whilst we were playing away but the conditions then were almost as bad now so it was rescheduled to start last Sunday 7th Jan. The decision to start relaying the pitch was made by the company who took on the contract; they assured Blues the job could be done in four days despite the predicted rain. Relaying wasn’t the problem it was the exceptional amount of rain we have had in the midlands that has caused the soil problems (Mud under the new turf). We have had three times the usual amount of rain for this time of the year, and are not the only club in this area who have had to call off their games. Shrewsbury’s pitch is under water, along with Worcester, should they have points deducted and fines too? Or should they issue snorkels and flippers to their players? Most of what we are hearing currently is just press talk anyway; the BBC & Sky have never been fans of Blues so they are bound to give a negative slant in their reports. Blues have gone about this in a very professional way, involving the FA at an early stage; the expert they got in was the FA’s own pitch expert. They got the Referee in three days early for the inspection. I don’t know what the Leeds fans are complaining about; if we were in their position I wouldn’t want to play the league leaders whilst in a poor run like they are in at the moment. Despite what some misinformed Leeds fans have posted we don't have an injury crisis. At least they haven’t had to travel down, only for the game to be called off at 12pm unlike what we have had done on us so many times I have lost count…..KRO

I don't know which Championship table you were looking at Tilton Corner, but when I last looked the Blues were 3 points clear at the top due to there abysmal performance over the last couple or three games. Now that's been wiped out after Derby's win. Let's hpoe after all this they can actually beat Leeds when they do eventually fulfill the fixture. biggrin

What kind of idiots try to relay a pitch in four days, in the middle of winter, with a massive storm forecast? Birmingham should have the book (or a spadeful of that ploughed field they call a pitch) thrown at them - maybe they should be made to play their next three home games behind closed doors, to make up for all the away fans who lost money on travel arrangements etc.

Of course Birmingham should have points deducted. Asit has been said Middlesboro lost points when they didn't fulfil a fixture due to a lack of players.

Birmingham could look at the weather forecast, protect the pitch. Perhaps they didn't want to because they have a few strikers out at the moment. If Leeds lose the re-arranged match and go down to a goal scored by a player not available yesterday is that fair? Not that I want Leeds to stay up!

A fine a 3 points deduction. Lets face it Birmingham will be going up anyway.

You are just being silly. Why should Brum have a points penalty? What if they hadn't relayed the pitch and 3 or 4 players from both sides had suffered serious injury> That of course would have suited your blinkered agenda fine. In any case, if the pitch was that bad that it needed relaying due to being dangerous, it's very likely that the game would have been called off anyway on safety grounds.
By the way, M'bro's posponement was totally different. They did not turn up after being ordered to play and when they bleated about sickness and injury, they counted all their suspended players as sick or injured and even included Viv Anderson on the sick list and he hadn't played for two years, so they got what they deserved. The ricj irony of course was had they turned up at Blackburn and lost 5 or 6 nil, they would not have been relegated, instead Coventry would've gone down, so much for playing silly games!

Was I really that transparent smiley

Maybe you are right, but surely there has to be some sanction otherwise any club could just rip up their pitch stating it was unfit to play when they have a long injury list. Seems a little unfair to me.

You may be right about that, I don't know Brum's injuries apart from Bendtner (Spelling??). That said, I don't think that they would waste that sort of money when they are playing against a team 2nd from bottom of the table. Brum did try to relay it over Xmas but had to cancel. Sometimes sh1t happens and we have to put up with it. A small inquiry yes to establish what went wrong and to see what can be learned from it, sanctions, never.

In every other level of football the punishment is the award of 3 points to the away team, due to the home team failing to fulfil provide a pitch for the fixture. The blues were unable to play, Leeds were, simple as that. It's an unlikely punishment at this level of the game, but if the playing field is to remain level, it is the correct one.

All I want to say on this subject (and Im not biased as a Rams fan as the Blues will go up anyway) is why didnt they wait until after the Leeds game which (and Im not 100% sure on this)would give them 2 weeks as normally after a home game there is an away game
